    Default 2006 NBA Finals

The Mavs destroyed the Heat in the 1st games and today's game 3. I'm really excited about this - I would like to see the Mavs take this in 4!!! I'm not really a Mav fan but they're playing awesome basketball and I would like to see them win. Also, since I'm a huge Pistons fan, I would like to see the Heat lose :D

Who is supporting who in these NBA finals???

    Miami Heat --

If only because I'm of the opinion that one should support the conference/division of their favorite team (in my case, the Atlanta Hawks:o :o )

I've always done this in every sport.

That being said, the Heat look outclassed, outmanned, and overwhelmed.
I know the NBA is streaky, but this is going to take nothing short of a miracle.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Got to go with Dirk and the Mavs.

Mavs and the Stars are the only local teams I have an interest in. I don't follow baseball at all and basketball only on the playoff time if SA or Dallas is playing. I love football but the 'boys are at the bottom of my list of who I want to see succeed in the NFL.

I totally support you and have been a strong supporter of the Eastern Conference teams until now - and only because they beat the Pistons. This is revenge time!

Is it just me, or does noone care about the NBA finals? (unless you live in Miami or Dallas of course)

    Go Mavs.

    You're right...
it was like the NBA playoffs were enjoying a spike in popularity not seen since the mid-90's, and then hit a brick wall...

which doesn't make too much sense since both teams come from very large markets and play a flashy, entertaining and accessible brand of basketball

The playoffs were great to watch, and I want the Heat to win only because of the hometown connection to Dwayne Wade, but I don't see that happening.

Wade and the Marquette Golden Eagles/Golden Warriors/Golden Shower
were great in the "old" Conference USA --

Louisville vs Marquette is always a barnburner

No, just do not like the Cowboys. Maybe it's because I liked Bruce Smith and co. ;)

Adding TO in the mix doesn't help. He isn't exactly a charming personality but as long as he doesn't open his mouth he's not that bad.

    Where's the "Who Cares" choice?
    'Political Correctness'.........defined

"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

"Who Cares" NBA basketball is about as exciting as watching grass grow. Shaq couldn't play in his prime and he can't play in his twilight. Since the Jordan era ended basketball has gone down hill as well as most organized sports. The only one left that is even a shadow of itself is Mens and Womens professional tennis and even that is lackluster these days in comparison to the Everet/Navratolova/Graf/ McEnroe/Borg/Connors/Sampras/Agassi era.

Apparently he has never been on a team you have supported! haha, the guy is a tool of the highest order, but was a good player in his time. :D

Agree Demiurge, he was/is a tool. I remember how many times he trash talked about the Bulls (I understand it's all a part of the game) but not once did he deliver on his talk. Atleast if you are going to talk trash consistently you should back it up once in awhile :D .

A good player in his time? That's a stretch. He could play periods of good defense, but he will forever be a nameless player among the mediocre when his time in basketball is done.

I tried watching last night. I really don't recognize the sport anymore. Apperently D-Wade can run over guys like a RB over a LB in the hole and its a foul on the other guy. THe star treatment is ridicolous.

    Uh, go Mavs?
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

I don't know if they got complacent, so much as Wade took over
and for what its worth, Shaq hitting those free-throws was clutch (at least by his standards)

Dallas should have challenged Wade on their offensi drives since he already had 5 fouls. Drive to the basket and force him to take 6th or take the basket because he's scared of fouling out. They didn't, instead they just made stupid turnovers when the win was their to take, easily. Wade did play great though, but that wasn't the main reason Dallas lost.

I didn't notice that but it continues to amaze me with what Shaq gets away with. I rarely follow basketball but ever since his matchup with Mutombo in the finals I have noticed it everytime I see him play. Well, not on game 2 where he was invisible but now that he played a decent game it was obvious again.

It seems like as long as his has his big ass turned towards the defender they let him get away with anything. I can't stand to watch games he plays in. I just don't understand why the officiating is so bad.

If Dallas can't find a way to stop Wade they won't win this series...

Wade is not that big of a problem for Dallas even with the game he had yesterday, they just need to stop shooting themselves in the foot.

    Polkmaniac--
I agree, but then again it took one of the all-time best Final's peformances from Wade to eek out a win

    seems ALOT to ask...
