Question any polk installers installed in scion tc

hi everyone im new to the forum
I have just bought my first set of polk speakers for my 2006 scion tc. I havent installed them yet. I have sr6500 that i want to put in the front and the mmc6500 that i want to put in the rear. Eventually i will upgrade to the sr6500 all around. I wanted to know if you guys would be able to tell me how to install them in the rear because i only have coaxials in the back but want to out the components. Also i am going to be running the speakers off of an eclipse 4 channel xa4000. I also have a alpine type x sub powered by a kicker zx1000.1 amp. Will these speakers be enough to hear clearly with the sub playung loudly?? Please let me hear any thoughts you might have.

    Thanx

First off, great choice on speakers and amps. Also not a bad choice on the car, either.

Are you doing this for show or purely for the sound? If somewhat for show, then I can see why you'd want to put some nice components in the rear. However, that will mess up the sound (for some explanation, read the seventh and surrounding posts here). Also, the cabin in a tC really isn't large enough to warrant rear speakers, even if you do ever carry any passengers in the rear.

A set of coaxials would be fine in the back.

Default now confused as to what to do

    thanx for compliments
yes its parly for show and partly for sound
my sub is 1000 watts rms so i was afraid it was going to drown out just one set of speakers in the front so that is why i also wanted components in the rear, i couldnt go with coaxials in the rear because amp was putting to much power to all 4 channels.

You guys think its gonna screw up the sound in the car that much, because i havent installed anything into the car yet.

If you guys think it will mess it up so much i might just install the sr's and take out the rear speakers and see how it sounds and i guess decide from there.

    thanx

If you don't have everything and haven't installed anything yet, then I would certainly be in favor of installing just the front speakers for now and seeing how you like that setup. Just see if the sub does indeed overpower the highs. If you have a 4ch amp, then you could use that to biamp the SR's, meaning the front left channel to the left tweeter, the front right channel to the right tweeter, the rear left channel to the left mid, and the rear right channel to the right mid. That would give each more power to breath on, and would increase your options for tweaking.

Just thrown in the SR's and forget about the rears for a week or so and see how you like it. If you're not a real stickler for sound quality, rear speakers probably wouldn't mess it up too bad for ya.

After reminding myself that you're putting this in a tC, I'm even more confident you should be happy with just the SR's in there, without any rear speakers.

    Give it a try.

    hey guys
i can get a great discount on monster cables for the car audio setup. I just have one problem, im not sure what exactly i need. I am trying to hookup 2 amps. 1 4channel and 1 mono. The mono is putting out 1000rms and the 4channel is 125 x 4 rms (500 rms). I wanted to know what wires i need exactly. As well as hooking up the speakers listed above.

Here is what i have come up with so far.

    1 ANL fuse holder
    High Amp ANL Powerfuse™ Holder MPC P400 HAPF-1 121020 $49.95 ea.

    Monster Power® ANL Fuse 150A MPC P400 ANL-150 121006 $11.95 ea.

    Firewall Grommet
    Competition Grommet 2 AWG - 1/0 AWG MPC P400 CG 2-1 121015 $6.95 pk.

    Ring terminals
    1/0 AWG Ring Term MPC P400 CRT 1 121021 $39.95 pr.

    5 ft. 1/0 Gauge Ground Cable - Black MPC P400 1B-5 121035 $39.95 ea.

    20 ft. 1/0 Gauge Power Cable - Blue MPC P400 1BL-20 121036 $174.95 ea.

    5 ft. 1/0 Gauge Ground Cable - Silver MPC P400 1S-5 121037 $44.95 ea.

    Im lost. Please help.

I only ask one thing from you guys and that is to keep all the products monster cables please. Dont worry about money. If you could give me a detailed breakdown i would greatly appreciate it. O and no amp kits work with this setup from monster yet.

Thanx in advance for all the help.

Just wondering, why are you sticking with Monster?

I'd put in my two cents with the wiring advice, but I know it'd all be wrong, so I won't. :p

    hey guys,
i have an update for you. I recently was able to acquire a second set of sr6500 for the rear in my tc. Instead of the mmc6500. I am also swapping out the eclipse amp for a kicker 650.4 zx amp. I have also decided not to go with monster because it was so expensive even with a great discount but to go with kicker wires instead.
So heres the new system for the tc.
I also forgot i swapped out eclipse avn 6600 for pioneer z1.

    Polk sr 6500 in rear

    Kicker zx1000.1
kicker 4 guage wiring for 4 channel amp
kicker 0 guage wiring for sub amp
    optima yellow top batterie
and playstation 3 soon...... have a good friend at gamestop

so what do you guys think?

if you want to know how to watch movies/get all the functions out of the z1 while driving, just flick the head lights on/off three times while it is booting up(right when you first start your car). Of course you need the illumination wire hooked up.

Awesome tip! Now I just need to wire in the illumination wire. After I get a Z1. After I get a system. Which will probably after a get a nicer car.
