    Default Receiver to match Rti8

Thanks to the advice I recievd in my previous post regarding the RTi8's I have decided to go with them with the final decsion to be made this weekend when I hear them, but what reciever would everybody recommend to pair with these speakers. I was orginally thinking the Pioneer VSX 1016 but it was recomended that I don't so any help would be great.

Good luck on this decision Redwing. My recommendation (for whatever it is worth and the flaming it will cause) for HT use is as long as you have plenty of amplification (I really recommend an external amp) to run your setup, I would get the receiver that has the hook-ups and options that you need now or can imagine needing in the near future. There are a lot of recommendations based on personal perceived sound quality. You can find these in threads like:

Use search function for even more advice...

You just have to really decide what is important to you. I did a comparison of a pre-amp that was portrayed as sonically better than most around only to observe that the price and sound did not warrant purchasing it for HT use. If I was going to use it for 2-channel listening, my opinion would have been quite different.

    Good luck,

the 8's can get bright. You'll need something to nullify that. I would look into a Marantz sr-5600 or Harman Kardon avr-635 at that particular pricepoint.

I would go with the Marantz personally.

I can't vouch for the Marantz, but I'm powering RTi70's with an AVR-635 Refurb and love the setup. Movies or music both sound great.

I am powering my 8's with HK335. I was using a Yamrxv540 and I much prefer the HK.

I power my 8's with a Denon 2805 and it sounds great to my ears, much better than my Technics SA-AX720 it replaced. There is a Denon 3803 (I think) in the Flea-market.

I think I will go with the Pionner VSX-1016 as I feel when this reciever comes out it will be the best reciever at this price range, but it will also allow me to upgrade to seperate amps if needed in the future.
