    Default Superman Returns WITH SPOILERS

    I seriously loved this movie!

    Some standout things...

    1. When Supes and Lois see each other for the first time in the plane when they make eye contact, that was priceless!

    2. I always wondered about the first Superman when Lex hung the Kryptonite rock around his neck, why not just take it off? In this one, they kicked his ass then Lex stabbed him with it...thats more like it. When he fell off the side, theres no reason to believe he would survive that.

    3. When they were kickin his ass, I literally felt my heart racing. Very intense scene!

What a cool movie! Very enjoyable!

good review, glad you liked it. Thinking about going to go and see it again. I usually like movies better the 2nd time I see them for some odd reason.

I wish they would have hired John Williams to do the score for the entire film. I missed the Lex Luthor music...and the score just wasn't as fun as before.

    Brandon Routh was awesome!

Kate Bosworth was OK, but the character development of Lois Lane being 5 years older and a much more accomplished writer and a mother, yet she seemed more immature and flaky. Could have been bad directing, but my opinion is it was a bad job in casting.

Spacey as Lex was more cruel, but it was believable....5 years in prison would do that to a guy.

I liked the movie a lot...I hope it makes a ton of money.

    Good thread :D

I agree totally with the eye contact on the plane. Very deep. I forgot that I thought it was slightly cheesy that she wasn't even bleeding with all that flailing around at high altitudes, but whatever. Didn't really distract me too mcuh.

I also thought the kid actor was great. Didn't overact the role, and with him being his father, it's going to open the plot for totally new shows! As I've stated elsewhere, who gives a rip if it is true to the, "Orginals." This isn't a remake, it's a sequel. Therefore it can be whatever it wants to be.

I couldn't agree less with the musical score comments. I was swept away by the sound track. Moving, intense, majestic.

I hope it rolls in the cash as well. Let's see someone top that Titanic flick ;)

I can't believe that anyone liked this movie - this was downright the cheesiest , mushiest crap ever. This movie should be renamed love triangle or something like that. I went to see a super hero movie - not some mushie bull****. This movie was a huge huge huge disappointment except for a some great special FX and great acting by Kevin Spacey.

I went to see this movie in a iMax theater so there were some neat 3D scenes (you wear a 3D glass) and great sound effects. But the mushy scenes were so long and boring ... compared to Batman Begins, Spiderman and X-men, which also had some romance, this was a total let down.

In other words, you just want to sit there & drool over all the loud explosions & special FX!

The rest of us go to see a WHOLE movie that has a plot, dialog & FX!

There is more to the history of Superman other than flying and fighting Lex Luthor.

Clark Kent, Lois Lane, reporter at the Daily Planet, raised by the Kents in Smallville....

Impatient people these days. FX over substance.

    Bingo!!!!

The character & world of Superman is a whole lot bigger than FX & certainly a whole lot bigger than one particular actor playing the role. Which is why it continues to be a draw so many decades from when it first came to be. So long as they get good actors to play the roles, and rely on words & not FX to tell the story, Superman movies can be made indefinately.

Which they left the plot totally open for the next flick as well. With a kid with superman powers in the mix, who knows what can happen!

Crazy's review is just that... crazy. This movie rocked big time.

    It won't beat Titanic.

Not unless you can get all the comicbook geeks to go see it 20 times each like the teenie bops did with Leo.

Awesome movie! Brandon Routh did an awesome job of playing Superman, the way his personality would change when he was Clark Kent, and the way he portrayed Superman was fantastic!

but hey, no way in hell it could be worse than the upcoming Aquaman movie.

Actually I believe I read somewhere that Brandon Routh has signed on for two more movies. So I'm sure we'll see the kid plotline play out. The Kid thing actually ties pretty well to Superman 2 when he lost his superpowers to get jiggy with Lois Lane.

    Other random trivia fact:

Brian Singer (director) wanted to cast Jude Law as General Zod for a flashback sequence, however Jude Law refused the role so Singer cut the scene out.

Just curious, but what are y'alls issues with Titanic? It was a detailed period piece with a love story put in there, but from a filmmaking standpoint, it was extremely detailed and well done, don't ya think?

I normally can't sit through a 2 and a 1/2 hour movie, but this one was great summer fun! A big improvement over the former Superman movies...I especially liked how Superman gently floated to the ground while standing, and his cape billowing in the wind...and the surprise about his...well, don't want to spoil it for anyone...

nothing. it's a good enough movie. But imo it's box office numbers are inflated due to the repeating audience of those teenie bop girls who had an *ahem* psychotic obsession with DeCaprio.

I thought Titanic was awesome, especially for a chick flick.

Kate Winslet was brilliant (not to mention smokin' hot) and I went back to see it a second time just for her. I have to admit that if it were not for her I wouldnt have thought so highly of it.

I think most major movies on that level (Star Wars, Titanic, Godfather, Davinci Code, etc) have repeat viewers. Dicaprio happened to be the flavor of the year for that one.

Alright, an interesting observation: Every single time I saw Kate Bosworth, I thought of Natalie Portman. Anyone else see the similarities or am I alone?

How can a movie that's all about mushy romance be called a movie with substance???

Batman Begins wasn't just about FX and action - it had a strong plot. Anyways, I don't want to waste my breath here if you folks are sold by 2.5 hrs of mushy romance in a super hero movie ...

Substance! How is a super hero using his super vision to spy on his ex-girl friend at her house while she's chatting with her current boyfriend be called substance!!!

I wouldn't pay a dime to see a Superman movie that doesn't have Krypto the dog in it.

I wonder if krypto ever humped anybody's leg.

Krypto is limited to humping Supermans leg. Any of us mere mortals and he'll snap our leg like a toothpick.

Heard he chased down a UPS truck and ripped it to shreds. Just a rumor though. ;)

    Thumbs up Terrific Movie!

It had just the right amount of everything in it!!! Brandon Routh did a fine job in the role & Kevin Spacey gave me a heaping case of the creeps!

I absolutely loved the 2 cameos by the last 2 surviving members of the Adventures Of Superman cast, Noel Neill & Jack Larson.

As for having him float more than fly, that is to put less stress & strain on the actor. Trying to keep your body nice & straight while hanging from wires is exhausting!

One of the most pervasive themes for all superheroes is that they too long for a normal life which includes a relationship & family! Every single superhero movie has touched on this subject, as they should.

It brings a much needed realism to the show & offers something for appealing to a greater audience & not just fanboys who insist on comparing every little thing to what preceded it!

This one will be scooped up as soon as it comes out on DVD!:)
