    Default R50 vs Monitor 60

I was hoping I could get some feedback on the R50's vs the Monitor 60's. Right now I own the monitors but although a good sound they seem to lack something. I use a CS300 center.
I see the R50's are back on sale at J&R. Whick do you perfer for good sound.

Well, you aren't going to get that "something" by getting a lower level speaker. Don't waste your time with the r50s unless you want to use them for a different room. If you want that "something":) upgrade not downgrade.

Take a listen to the rti8s but expect to spend more.

That's what I was wondering. I thought the Monitor 60's were an upgrade from the old R50's but I was getting advice from local stores saying the R50's were a much better speaker. I think these places hire too many minumun wage know it all's.

What reciever/amp do you have? The one thing I've learned is that the amp is just as important as the speakers themselves. Maybe that would give you that something thats missing

I was using a year old Sony STR-DE 897 It sounded aweful. I got my old Sony STR-DE 715 that only has 5.1 "No Digital" and it's MUCH better. I also tried Bi wiring the speakers and although I don't see how that helps, It did help in this case. I just tried the 715 and bi wiring in the last hour.

For rears I have R15's that I installed Monitor 60 tweeter on. I got them from a friend at CC for free.

Thats your prob is that reciever. Im not sure if that reciever has pre-outs but you might want to get a seperate amp.

I decided instead though to get the monitor 50s just cause they were cheaper but I should have gotten the rti8s instead.

edit: needed to delete some of the post. I didn't want the possibility of being banned:) .

No pre outs. Do you have any recommendations on a good full sounding reciever in the $300-$400 range. That 897 is very tinney. Lacks bass-mids and highs. Now I know why they clearanced them for $197
Not a friend at CC. It's just the closest "and Only" place we have within 100 miles., so I don't think he'd help too much, but I'll ask.
