Default FINALLY!!! Got my second set of 9's.

Holy hell. So until about two months ago, I didn't even have rears for my HT because my apt. wasn't condusive. I get my house and a buddy sells me a set of RTi4's with 36" stands for $50 (gotta love friends!). Needless to say it was one helllll of a hookup. They worked and all was good but I noticed the rears were a lot more bright than the fronts and it just never was a complete match for me but again, they worked! So I'm sitting at work the other day and found a set of LSi9's in ebony brand new in the box in a clearance sale. Needless to say they were sold to another salesguy who's been dying for his set. So we get to talking about how he's gonna run them and he knows he shouldn't just run them off his 3806 and needs an amp. Well, he didn't want to wait 2-3 months to get an amp and holy hell... he let me have 'em. I'm not even going to post the price I paid for them because it's disgusting how cheap they went. Gotta love clearance sales! Anyhow, making a long story longer... I got them home, took my old 9's and moved them to the back and put the shiny new ones up front to break in. Got them all tweeked in and fired up a couple SACD's/DVDa's... dear god. THIS is what I've been missing. Finally got a beautiful sound from the front and rear. It's an absolute perfect match (duh) and....wow. If anyone has the chance to hear a full LSi setup done right, it's sonic bliss. There's no real point to this thread other than to let me say... LSi's are untouchable for their price. Dear god.

Great score!!! Now all you need to do is replace that surround back with another LSi9:D
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

    lucky bastard.
    still stuck in rti-land here..

my question is What's the REAL difference between 7's and the 9's in an average size room with with an existing subwoofer tuned to 80hz?

the 9's fill out the midrange/midbass better. The 7's sound great but to me, I hear almost a gap between the tweeter and the midrange where the 9's are smooth to the last drop. lol

Thanks guys! Anyone in the KC area who wants to take a listen, all you gotta do is let me know.

I am in total agreement with your comment on an LSi system done right. Its phenomenal. Glad to hear you could get some rears to match. I too am in RTi-land, but whats worse is my Rs performing the surround duty. Its like the ghetto of RTiland.

Anyways, nice little system you got going there.

    Congrats on your new setup.

Interesting comments on the 7's vs. 9's. I just replaced my surrounds. Went from the 7's to LsiFX's. I use my system for movies mostly, however. (70 percent, or so). Forgot to mention I still have 9's for my mains on 24" stands. Great speaker.

When I do have the time for just music, I tend to go strictly 2 channel, although once in a while, I'll let my AVR do its sound processing thing. Interesting to me to hear the subtle differences. Keeps this hobby fun!

the only way I listen to music through all speakers is if I have a DVDa/SACD in. Otherwise, I NEVER let my AVR do any processing. Actually, my DVD player is only hooked up via the 6ch analogs. Gotta love the sound of a quality dvd player...

No need to make us jealous with the price like you said, Toxis, but can you let me (us) know the store that was having the clearance sale?

Tweeter seems to be the only one around me that sells the LSi Series, and best I've seen is like $900/pair open box for the 9's.

Fry's. I think they are around $900 a pair for NIB over there.

Well, it's the shop where I work hence my great price. They only clearanced them because we usually don't sell the ebony's and we had one set sitting in the warehouse forever without being sold. The 9's used to sell NIB for $900/pr but that was upped to $1k per Polk almost a year ago (right after the new series upgrade). These were put at $900 clearanced but I talked them down being an employee in the department.
