New here...and have ? on PSW303

Hey guys,
I have the volume on my sub about half way about 9-10 o'clock. Should I turn it all the way down and use the SUBW level on my receiver? Does it matter as long as I have the db's matching my mains? With the spl meter of course. I'm also using the Denons crossover via the LFE set at 80, what do I set the subs crossover at? Turn it all the way up, so the sub uses the denons internal crossover.

run the sub gain about 1/3 or 1/4 volume, adjust in your receiver settings use spl, can go alittle hotter if you like bass about 78db, sub crossover to use denon crossover.

Ril, welcome. As you suggest, as long as the sub level has been properly calibrated(either by your 3805 or manually), the relative settings of the sub and receiver controls at that point aren't very critical. Neither of them should be set close to their maximum or minimum settings and to avoid possible distortion in the receiver sub output it's often suggested that it not be set more than about half-way up.

If you've done the auto calibration using your 3805 it's good to set all speakers "small" manually even if the 3805's measurement would have indicated that some could stand a "large" setting. An 80Hz crossover would also likely be good.

If you're using a coaxial cable from the 3805's sub out to your 303, it should be connected to the LFE input which completely bypasses the internal crossover of the sub since the receiver is already handling that function. The setting of the internal sub crossover control has no effect and is therefore a moot point.
