What type of sub do you have? Give us some specifics here...
Typically I would not alter the design of any manufactured part without a thorough understanding of what your trying to do.

It is a Pioneer 400 Watt 12".
Like, I have an airhole in my box now, but should I seal it?
The airhole is not for cooling and its dimensions are designed for a certain amout of airflow. My subs are designed to actually allow the user to change the airflow and there are manufacturer guidlines in accomplishing this. Outside of that I would reccomend leaving "well enough alone".

Well, I have to subs and one of them is in a big hefty cardboard box! Lol yes very cheap but it pounds. The other is in a real box. For the cardboard one do I need the hole?
can you take some digital pics of your "Cardboard Sub" so some of the real experts on speaker design can chime in?
What kind of sub is made of cardboard? I just can't fathem that...

Shoot I don''t have my camera hear. Ok, try to envision this. There are handles on the sides right? covered one of them, and cut open the other prolly around 2 inches. Is it too big or do I need to cover it up to get more boom?
I know I know.....:DOriginally Posted by PolkThug

Don't worry. I am getting a custom made box for it. Cardboard is temporary ;)
Ummmmm let me try to find one. It is an older kind of sub.Originally Posted by HBombToo
This isn't mine, but it kinda looks like this. Letters are green, and imagine it older and used. http://www.strathfield.com/images/Si...um/TSW306C.jpg
That is just the driver. Where did the cardboard box come from?

Oh my bad. I got it out of my garage. It is like a.....Amsoil?
If I knew what Amsoil was I may be able to draw some conclusions...

Plus I ahve a problem with the Pioneer. It makes like a cracking, popping sound instead of bass. I am taking my amplifier back in like 30 minutes and getting a better one. I don't know what could be causing that sound though......
Lol....Amsoil....wait let me go give you the dimensions ans stuff.Originally Posted by HBombToo

And it is Prime Oil.
if your sub has a hole.. don't plug it..
if your sub doesnt' have a hole.. don't make one.
It isn't the sub. It is the sub box.
This is beginning to sound like it should be in the automotive side of the house...

Well it's trouble....
Your sub is toast.Originally Posted by T_Unit616
Amsoil is very highly regarded synthetic oil.
But here is the thing. I tried my other sub, it did the same thing.Originally Posted by PolkThug
