    Default This sucks

    Polksters,

After 15 years clawing, kicking and doing everything by the book, I was given a severance package today and Friday will be my last day of work. I work for a major pharmacuetical company on the east coast, The package is good but i will have to start over, I have had a bad feeling since Monday, **** was just not feeling right with my conversations with management as in other semi-weekly teleconferences, I was offered a relocation package overseas but i refused to go to Signapore. I now have to start over from scratch. Just ranting. I guess maybe I was to comfortable, we will see what the future holds.

    That's fantastic!

Getting booted from the job can be a liberating experience. And you got a nice severance package, too? Doesn't get any better than that.

    I can't blame you, though, **** Singapore.

I wouldn't want to be stuck overseas with all that's going on around the world.

I know how you're feeling, but I didn't receive a severance package, though.

    Good Luck

Obviously if they were going to drop the average of $50k to $60k it cost to relocate an employee to another country on you, then you were providing alot of value. Oversea's relocation packages usually include a "bring you home" clause if the job doesn't work out and you were not terminated for cause. Take a breather, do something you always wanted to do but never had time to, then inventory your skills and what makes you valuable to another employer, then go to Monster.com and start loading your resume!

I'm with Early B on this one. Look at this as a great way to start over and maybe you can get an even better job. Try to turn your hobbies into a job if possible.

I got canned several years ago and began working for myself. I don't make as much money as a did before, but my quality of life has increased dramatically. I work from home and screw around all day on this forum. :p

    Polksters,

Thanks for the kind words, I was a regional sales force manager for a major top 10 Pharmacuetical in Jersey. I will be getting just short of a years pay and medical for 2 years, I will rollover my profit sharing and other pension benefits and be alright. I sensed something at the start of the week as to many calls from upper management. I will survive and like many here have said and my wife, this just might be the best thing that happened to you. I also have a few side gigs that I do very well in and might turn that into a full time thing i.e. (Flipping houses with my brother) haven't lost money yet. On another note an apology to Faster100 & Dave for putting them through some Sh** today about the sales of the Rotel amps and Pre. I had put the sales on hold but came home, went out to dinner with my wife which I really haven't done in awhile, we went down te shore walk the boardwalk for awhile held hands and said everything works out for a reason. I was really to comfortable in this job and become stale and giving my all and forgetting to enjoy the finer things in life. So guys my word is my bond has always been my motto, so the sale are still on same terms nothing different, came home and packed everything up and it;s ready to go. Will keep you guys posted, thanks for listening to my rant. I will be downsizing the rig some more stay tuned, need to get in contact with francis1687, somebody know him tell him to PM me.

Best of luck to you Carlos! You live pretty close to the epicenter of the pharmaceutical and bio tech industry. Hang tough, you'll come out okay.
