Default Best Mini-monitors To Be Had Today???

My father wants to buy a "retiree" home theater and put in his small small house in FL.

I want to help him find the components that will give him a high end system with mineature pieces.

I need a little help in brainstorming here.

What are the best high end mini-monitors that money can buy today. I am interested in any speaker brand any price level. Will couple this with the best HSU sub or REL sub, not sure yet....but I really don't have a grasp on the smaller stuff.

He already purchased the processor and amp....the Anthem D2 and Anthem P5, so that should give you an idea of the hardware side of things.

Totem comes to mind, but that is about it...

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Man oh man, compact monitors is one realm I have a whole boat load of experience in. It's way too late for me to type anything coherent and worthwhile so I will put this on hold until later on today.

Meanwhile - if cost is no object, is there any chance you could borrow these funds to demo a number of speakers at the same time? That would be your best route, if possible.

PM me and we will talk.

The money is no object, but my father won't have the patient to go through 4-5 pairs of speakers and salesmen of respective brand in order to land on one set he wants.

    Any stand-outs in your mind?

Btw for my own PC, I was looking at the Studiophile LX4 series or BX5 for gaming fronts....are they any good?

I would recommend to look into Totem Mani 2, Tyler Acoustic Monitor, or Harbeth Monitor. Processor and amp can be used to combine both 2-Channel/HT system. For 2-channel with existing components, I would also do research on Plinius 9200 or Simaudio Moon I5 (or I7) integrated amps with Ayre 7e or Arcam CD33 CD player. Good luck on your finding.

On the lower end of the cost spectrum, how about Paradigm Titans or Atoms?

    Default Magico Mini Monitor

These may very well be the best mini monitor in the world. If not, they sure are the most expensive at over $20,000 a pair.

I would like to check out a pair of these... Tannoy Autograph Mini.

It's a mini-version of another famous Tannoy...has retro styling obviously...and most likely spot on sound and imaging.

Don't overlook the EPOS ELS-3 or the next up 5 series. I have been very impressed with the ELS-3 for a mini-monitor. I can also add +1 on the Totem mini-monitors. I listened briefly to an Usher mini-monitor that was really nice.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Tell your dad he could probably get away with the SVS bookshelf set. But I would also recommend, although I dont know if it's considered mini-monitor, the Polk monitor 40 with cs2 all the way around.
Don't forget to look at My Home Theater :D

    Receiver - Onkyo TX-SR503
Fronts - Polk Audio Monitor 40
    Center - Polk Audio CS1
    Surrounds - Paradigm Cinema ADP
    Subwoofer - Velodyne VRP-1200
