    Default Paper topic

Well I have to right a history paper about an event or person that has to do with any part of the USA from 1865 to 1985. I've thought of a few icons or events but none seem good enough to right about.

If my fellow polklets could give me some ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks,
    Adam

The Great Depression is always a good topic to write about. Lots of info out there.

McCarthyism- how it shaped our country in the 40's, 50's and 60's, how we rinsed it away, and how it could repeat in these times of polarization and the war on terror.

How about the invention of radio? How and when it was invented. Even touch on the "fireside chats" certain presidents had. Families used to gather by the radio for weekly shows like "The Shadow." I remember reading about the famous Orsen Wells "War of the Worlds" show and how people actually thought we were being invaded by martians.

You will write a great paper if you find a subject YOU are interested in, not something we are interested in.

    Just my $.02

Edit: Since you frequent an audio forum, think about what moght be a good topic related to that. Early radio as John suggested, or the effect of modern music on politics, etc.

    Howzabout:
The invention (or perfection) of audio tape recording (by the Nazis, in WWII), its liberation after the war, and its introduction into broadcasting and music reproduction by none other than Bing Crosby. You can fold in Les Paul, inventor of modern multi-tracking and overdubbing, as well as the electric guitar that bears his name.

Thanks but I do not write informative papers on history very often... I am not interested in too much to do with the USA in that time period therefore I am struggling... thanks for the italics and bold letters they really capture the emotion you put into typing that message.

Thank you everyone for their suggestions.

If you do your paper on the depression you could touch on some of the successes from that era......such as "Monopoly"!

well since i like cars.. i'd do a paper on Henry Ford and the impact the automobile has had in the past 100 yrs. It could be relevent for todays audience too.. as we're paying high gas prices. Or someone more recent.. Carroll Shelby.

Adam, which ones have you thought of? Why did you think they weren't good enough?

Does this person or event have to be well known?
