monopoles or bipoles

hey wassup team. i'm thinking of upgrading my four surrounds from monpoles to bipoles. right now i have four 2 way klh bookshelf speakers as my surrouinds. they give out great surround sound but i want something to fill up the back end just a bit more. good idea or bad idea.

Welcome Conqur!:) That is certainly something that you can experiment with just to see which you like best. It's pretty highly subjective. I have VonSchweikert surrounds and I can chose between dipole and mono and to me the mono sounds much better. You can always do a 30 day trial thingie and see if you like the sound of bipoles there.

D, can you elaborate on that. Just curious why you say the mono sounds better. I would think the dipoles would have a fuller effect. Are the dipoles more full but not as clear/precise?

welcome to the forums. Grab 2 sets of Polk F/X's, set the side ones to dipole and the ones in back to bipole.

In my room , when I select dipole it all sounds like mush to me. Monopole sounds much better and clearer with my system. Because my surrounds are angled like dipoles and against the wall I still get some dispersion- a little. Also music is ten times better.

i'm glad to be apart of this forum, but i feel uninformed and left behind with all these polk fans around here. my only polk product is my sub.

I have tossed this bi-pole/di-pole thing a bit and settled on di-pole for the sides and bi-pole for the backs. Seems to me when there is a Back Surround track on the disc most of it is transient sounds, overhead gunshots, copters and the like. Well actually I dont use switchable back speaks, but if I did I would set them to bi-pole.

yes i know i need to invest more in polk the sub i have is awesome. i love it..nice tight, full bass. i was thinking of upgrading my entire speaker system to polkaudio. but what is up with the svs subs. i keep reading about them on this forum.
