im looking to spend around 2-400 bucks for a seperate amp to compliment rti70's, csi5 rti6 and a denon avr-2106. it would be to power the fronts......do you think its a necessity to get a 3 channel amp to give my center channel the same power as the fronts. if so im guessing a decent amp at that price is not really easy to find and if not what kinda amp would you suggest looking at. i checked out rotel and that seems too expensive.... any opinions would be greatly appreciated. oh and i also need help on a dvd player that will only be using s-video or component video outs with coax out obviously. thanks in advance

Yes I would run the same power to all three fronts. I don't believe any amp you buy for your price range will significantly outperform your existing Denon. As far as DVD players, just about all players come out of China, cost around $100, and perform the same. With HD DVD now out, I don't recommend anyone purchase an old 480i/p DVD player.

I aggre with wallstreet on the amp. You will need at least $500-$600 bucks for a decent 2 channel like Rotel, Parasound or B&K just to name a few. The 3 channel would be nice, but again more money. I would suggest you save your coin and get a nice 2 or 3 channel at 200wpc into 8 ohms amp and be happy.

Someone on this forum got B-stock Outlaw mono block for $275 each. You can get couple of them for now and get the 3rd one for your centre later as $$ permit.

Since when did it cost $5-600 to get a "decent" 2 channel amp. Several early model, reliable, high powered 2 channel amps are available for way less than that. He needs more than a 2 channels regardless, but a great 2 channel, high powered amp can be bought for less than $500.00

I am certainly not the most knowledgeable member here, but one can definitely get something on par with Denon quality for less than that. No disrespect intended nor conveyed. Check out Nad 2200's or Adcom GFA 555's, etc. Way under $500.00 and nice pieces.

No I do not, I would consider brand however as the slew rates might be an issue and I mean might. You can balance the system with the receiver's trim levels, some amps like NAD have gain controls on the amp.

My suggestion is to get a nice 5 channel from ebay, I did and saved a lot of mullah
