    Default Wife is killing me...

Well, minus the fact that I just put down 800 sq.ft. of hardwood in the house for the wife and kids allergies, last night she got a 2006 Toyota Highlander. The only option she didn't get was 4WD and leather interior. Even though she didn't get 4WD, this thing has full-time traction control, power everything, third row seating, damn thing even has tire pressure sensors with a built-in air compressor in the cargo area. I'm not going to buy anymore stereo equipment for quit some time now, I'm scared too, I buy the Outlaw 990/7700 combo and a new set of Polk speakers for upstairs (which were for her) and she gets new floors and then a new vehicle. I'm scared that if I buy something else she may try and sell the house and buy another new house. All joking aside, I'm just glad her and the kids have a new reliable vehicle to get back and forth inn and the best part about it is, it's in HER NAME, I just co-signed for the loan.

Hahahaha, wow; yeah, I think I'd hold off on the audio purchases, too.

Or, at least wait to receive them when she's not home. :D

Well, I always remember that the Mrs. is kind enough to sleep with me.

I am thinking you should have Wilson's, tell her you will start small say a set of Sophia's. I mean its not like she going to go get some German jobbie on you know is it? You should know most of my friends are now divorced, surely not from my advice??????

Congrats on the vehicle, nothing like taking care of the family when its all said and done.

At least she waited to buy when the model changeover deals are happening. She could've held out for an overpriced 2007 model :)

thats allright dude, Toyotas are pricey, but there worth it reliability wise. also, dumping money in the house (ala wood floors) is never a bad investment either. its all good.

    so far, my wifey count

    1) big friggin house
    2) 1 kitchen (cabinet reface, floor, new countertop, electrical and new applicanced)
    3) Toyota Matrix XR (fully loaded WITH the all wheel drive, LOL)

but hey, I get my little toys, plus I bought the Volvo this year too, and its not like I'm losing money in the long term on the house and kitchen (current housing downturn notwithstanding)

plus, I dont gotta worry about the wifey breaking down in a P.O.S. car.

She's a friggin money pit, but I still love the sh*t out of her :D

    Don't be so grim, Grim.

Look at it this way -- since you've done so much for the fam, you have a blank check for audio gear and your wife can't say a damn thing about it. Better buy some new gear quickly before the buzz wears off.

    Just a note....

My mom has a similar 2005 Toyota Highlander and it drinks a lot of gas if you push it pass 75 mph. Drove this SUV to Vegas and back last December, keep it under 75 mpg and you'll be fine. Nice engine sound from the V6.

Well, my girlfriend made me buy another house since the old one is too far from her work...and she's not even my wife yet! ;)

But yes, I do have lots of toys and she is urging me to get more!!! I think the next one is a brand new Harley (Nightrod Special).

WOW. I would totally freak if my wife bought a car without telling me. But then again, I run all the finances and tell her we're going broke every other week, hehe.

Lets get clear things up a little, she DID NOT buy it without telling me. That is the one thing the wife and I are pretty clear on, we DO discuss things before we purchase them, other than 50% of the stereo equipment I have. "When did you get that she asks?", oh hun I've had that for months now.

God knows, I'm guilty of the same kinda "midnight upgrades." Luckily turntable parts come in small boxes! She doesn't pay any attention to my vinyl spinner. A new tonearm? Internal mods? New cartridge? She never even noticed. I'm pretty sure she never noticed when I upgraded from a Denon AVR-2802 to our current 4802. They are both black front, say Denon, the display is the same, the volume knob is in the same place. I guess she never really looked close at the old one anyway. Remote controls make AV gear impersonnal to most. We gear heads are different in the fact that we closely examine every component closely.

Luckily my wife is ok with the upgrades and gear,

It's a good thing because ive taught her way to much about gear and she would pick up on a change in a heartbeat :D

plus, i usually don't upgrade often, its years between and its big when i do so no fooling with a set of lsi's and a huge stack of Rotel amps LOL

Glad your household is finding balance, it's only fair to everyone :)
