Default Go to church rummage sales.

I have found more old electronics at church rummage sales than any flea market or estate sale. I guess the little old ladies get pumped up on helping out their missionaries and what not, and just dump all their worldly possessions.

Here are a couple pieces i picked up this morning, pics are raw, these should clean up real nice.
    Sansui TU-999
    Sansui AU-999

Pick up a paper and head out on a Saturday, you never know what you will find.

Sorry I can't say what I paid, I'm afraid I'll get struck down by a lightning bolt.

Thats a great pickup! Well done. Make sure you give the insides a good once (maybe twice) over too...will certainly benefit from some new caps, plus the DC offset/bias are likely way out of spec. But still, I'm jealous! :(

WOW...I remember looking at that Sansui in an audio store way back...drooling and wishing I could own it. Nice find!!! And now that I think of it, that's when my fascination with buttons and switches started. That model was a dream for me.

Auctions are the way to go. Doesn't happen often, but from time to time I find great stuff. My Def Techs came from an auction, untested. Great price.

Bought an awesome vintage Boston center which I sold but was the best made to date. A recent auction had a ton of Bang and O stuff, but I wasn't interested even to resell as it went sky high. I did pick up a Klipsch sub and center, though.

My SRS's came from a living estate sale where the guy was selling everything before he relocated. Mint shape. Anyhow, you get the picture. You just have to be willing to wait it out or leave a bid in absentia. If you live in SC, disregard and forget this post......

Not super desireable, gold mine Sansui, but two decent peices you can flip for I'm sure several times what you paid.

I had one of those amps once, never had that model tuna - great retro items for a throwback rig too. Neat finds.

    Cheers,

Real nice pickup! The best that I've found at Church Fles'a is some very cheap cassettes.

I've got one of those integrateds. If you ever feel like parting with that tuner let me know. Nice score.

I hooked them up to those Frazier speakers I picked up a few weeks ago, sounded good, everything seems to work.

I enjoy a good mid week auction, but on the weekends I could have already hit multiple sales instead of standing around at an auction waiting for them to get to the items I might be interested in.

The old lady just rolls her eyes when I bring gear home, I appreciate the nod from you guys. Yeah I'm just going to flip 'em, keeps me in some $ to pursue those gold mine items........Hell I'd just flip them too. It's just a big treasure hunt to me, that's my addiction, It's not that I don't appreciate the vintage stuff, I'm just not well traveled in that area of audio and I don't have the room to keep or the know how to fix older gear should something fizzle out. The only permanent things here are Adcom amps and Polk LSI's;)

Don't be discouraged Grasshopper, next time look behind the potty chair or the case of blue hair dye.....There your treasure awaits!:D (Not making fun of old people, I love old people).

After further review I've decided to make the right call (unlike those sorry a@@ replay officials who screwed my sooners not once but twice!) and keep these two pieces. I'll call it my throw back rig like russman suggested. I bought a huge- old school- real metal filing cabinet at the same sale, the perfect place for them to ride, on top... safe from getting beat up.

Now I need to find a matching turntable, anyone know what the model # would be?

So there it is, my first and probably only throwback rig consisting of the two Sansui components and a pair of Frazier "Super Monte Carlo" speakers.

I've got a whopping $7 invested in this rig.
