Great video looks like it was alot of fun. I miss having my 4x4 truck and going off road with it although i never got that extreme. Love to get an old jeep to do that with one day.

OH wow! That looks like so much fun. Us poor people in Florida don't have silly rocks to worry about. The most fun I can have with my jeep is in the sand. I would love to try that sometime. Of course my jeep wrangler is nothing like those machines. You would have to take me on baby trails.

I finally got around to watching this...looks like fun! A lift and the accompanying equipment are definitely in my Jeep's future, but probably not until it's no longer the DD.

I was surprised to see a license tag on the red Jeep; are beadlocks legal in Colorado? Or are those fakes? Also, just before he crests the top of a rock right about 4 minutes into it, he adjusts something on the dash; what's he doing?

No reason to limit a lift to a non-DD. Mine's a DD and lifted 4.5". The red jeep is actually a competion buggy that belongs to the drivers brother. Chris (the driver of the red jeep) has been working on it for his brother who lives in Montana. Chris is damn good with a wrench and a great driver too. He's the guy drove for 2 hours from Colorado Springs to a trail I was on and brought my busted jeep and me home for nothing more than the cost of the diesel fuel for his truck.

No, bead locks are not legal, the jeep was trailered to and from the trail. It is not street legal in colorado. No windshield, no back-up lights, no emissions gear, etc.

The adjustment he made was activating the winch to pull the body/chassis down toward the axle. The winch is hard wired to the dash. Using the winch to compress the suspension is common when you get onto the big rocks. It helps get the weight back onto the front end during steep climbs and also prevents flopping the rig.

Wow, that red jeep sounds like a pretty sophisticated rig! A winch hard wired to itself! That's pretty interesting; I'd never heard of that. The driver sounds like a great guy, too.

I would love to get a lift on my Jeep now, while it's a DD. In fact, since it's a DD is one of the reasons I want a lift: it'd make me stop going through right rear tires in 8 months! :p However, I guess I was more saying that by the time I have a second car, I should have enough money to 'invest' ('waste' according to Dad) in my Jeep. However, we shall see how summer jobs and school costs go.

How big is that XJ with the vents and flares? Looks sharp. I have a '94 ZJ that I'm going to mildy build one of these days. Got a 2" BB sitting in the shelf waiting for when I get around to longer shocks.

That green (blue? green/blue? idk) XJ is FrankZ's personal Jeep. As he said above, he has a 4.5" lift on it, and I think he made most of it himself, if not all of it. I'll agree, it looks really sharp!

Yep, its mine on the weekends and Debbie's during the week. The color is called Gun Metal, it's a light metalic blue.

I've done all the work on it myself, including rebuilding the front axle after snapping the passenger side steering knuckle....ouch. Gears, lockers (front and rear) Long ArmZ, the whole shebang.

It is indeed cool... but I'm with ya man. I just don't get the thrill of driving 3 mph over big rocks, hoping your vehicle doesn't get stuck. I've done it a couple times, and it was too boring for me. But then again, I enjoy jumping off cliffs, climbing in Yosemite, and rushing into burning buildings.. ya know, crazy stuff like that.

Regardless, thanks for sharing Frank and glad you have a hobby you love besides audio :D
