Did anyone see this test on audioholic? EVERYONE of the wires tested better then Monster. The best was braided CAT 5 wire. Home Depot generic wire even tested better then the Monster wire.

Go to www.audioholic.com and search speaker wire. The guy bought CAT 5 and braided it himself. The article is long and technical and VERY educational.

That should be www.audioholics.com with an "s"
With the "s" missing, takes you to one of those phony advertising sites.

This is pretty old news. 2004 reviews
http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/...ercable2p1.php
Not everyone agrees that Audioholics are the most trusted reviewers, but they seem to do a good job of de-mystifying things to me.
From:http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/...faceoff013.php
"The Stealth Premier 2 and Cobalt cables had the highest performance in this comparison. However, special care must be taken to ensure closely spacing of the (+) and (-) conductors of the Stealth Premier 2 to achieve comparable performance to the Cobalt Cables. Since this could prove quite challenging, we recommend considering the cheaper and consistently excellent performing Cobalt Cables. From a build quality and cosmetics stand point, the Cobalt cables were our top preference. On a budget, we recommend either the Monster Cable Navajo or Sound King 12AWG along with quality spades or banana terminations of your choice."
I think This is the link being referred to. The best rated was Cat 5 wire, I personally use Cat 5 for my mains and highly recommend it. I use something similar to V5, except I use all the striped wires as positive, and all the solid as negative. If I remember correctly they just use all of the 8 wires in each piece.

Did you mean the striped conductors? I'd hate to spend the time splitting the jacket and stripping half the conductors in a cat 5 cable.Originally Posted by Gaara
Now, what about Cat 5d v. Cat 5e? Also, does the improved bandwidth of Cat 6 provide an audible difference?
jmwest1970,
May bad, I mean striped. I personally used Cat 5e, it is Belden 1585A wire as recommended in Chris VenHaus' recipe. As for a comparison of 5d vs 5e vs 6, I only have experience with Cat 5e so I can’t attest to the differences.
