Default proper way to hook this up?

I have a 6 Channel JBL 755.6II amp currently running my front, rear, and sub. It don't really have the umph to power my Polk MOMO's. So I am thinking of getting a JLB 300.4 amp (123.5wx4) to power my MMC6500 (125w RMS) and MMC650(60w RMS). Grant it I'll be overpowering the MMC650's but I'll turn the gain down to protect them. It's almost a perfect match for the MMC6500's.

So aside of adding more power I want to run my front and rear tweeters off the 6 channel amp with the sub. Then run the 6.5's off the 4 channel amp. Another reason I want to do this is because the tweeters are just too bright for my taste. Having them on seperate channels should give me the freedom to turn them down a bit.

So this brings me back to a question I think I asked before here or not. Do I just use a RCA Y-Cable to split the RCA outputs for the two amps? Or is there a better more professional way to do this?

Also any comments on this setup would be appreciated.

I was thinking of just splitting the RCA outputs right behind the headunit. With all the long RCA cables I got it would be a breeze to run more cables plus you wouldn't see the split. Thoughts?

    Id skip the 300.4

Use the 6 channel for all 4 speakers. Channels 1 & 2 for the front tweeters, channels 3 & 4 for the front mids and then channels 5 & 6 for your rear speakers.

And yes, a Y splitter is perfectly fine.

Problem doing that. On the 6 channel amp channels 5 & 6 are for subs and only has a low pass so I bridged the channels and use my 10" Polk MOMO there. Here's a link to my 6 channel amp.

    Hmmm. That is a problem.

A dumb question, but you have tried the attenuator on the MMC6500's crossover right? You can tone down the tweeters by up to 6 db.

I'm installing the speakers right now. I'm removing my db5250's and replacing them with the MMC6500's. Some people say running the 125w rms speakers on a 60w rms amp will affect performance or rather, won't let the speaker perform to it's full potential. The Polk sub I have sounds great but really out performs my other speakers. So more power might be what I need. I'll run it all on this 6 channel amp but that little bug will be annoying me. You know, the one that whispers "More Power!" in your ear.;)

More power is fine and all as long as you use it properly.

You may just be better off getting a more powerful 4 channel for the mids/highs and a good stout amp for the sub.
