Cool Upgarde to RTi70 and ...

I recently upgraded my mains from RT35i to RTi70 (my first floorstanding speakers:D ). My other speakers include CS245i for center , RT25i for surrounds and a PSW250 sub.

Now my center and surrounds are not eaxcatly timber macthed with the mains (due to the new tweeter in RTi70s). How important is it to change these. Currently I have the option of changing my center chanel speaker to CSi30 without any cost.
What do you guys suggest. Has any one done A/B compariosn between Cs245i and CSi30?

I havent had a chance to listen to RTi70 in detail, but definetely noted a big imrovement in movies. What is the optimal setup for these. I am runnig them with a Denon 2802 and have set them as large, sub crossover at 80 and LFE mode is sub + mains.

My gut tells me that swapping the center (especially at 0 cost) is a good thing; I don't think changing out your rears would be as significant.

I also have the 2802, and I have opted to go with LFE mode with just the sub and not sub + mains. I also have my mains (RT800i/35i stack) set to small. This is just what I prefer, and I have found that this configurations rocks well, be it 2 channel or 5.1 listening formats.

Try them all and see what you like best, then tell us why. Always looking for new info...

    You now own rti70's congrads.
You have a mismatch in center channels......you should get the csi40.
Also changing out the rears will make a big difference.Rti38's if your into monopoles for rears and the fxi50 for an upgrade to dipolar.
These speakers match your system........good luck and have fun upgrading.

IMHO, stay _FAR_ away from the CSI30.

I got rti70 biwired and csi30. I finally found the best setting for my system: turning off my csi30 center channel.... I know that polk said that rti70 amd csi30 are a match. I am new to HT but if this is a match I can hardly imagine what must be a mismatch... Running the AVIA center match test show how bad the discrepency is. Unfortunately in my case the bigger size of the csi40 isn't really a option for me at this point. I definitely recommend that you listen to the combo before you buy.

    p.s.: but I really Love the rti70 :)

So would buying friggin' monoblocks, I thought he wanted a more seamless system, not an entirely new one. Not everyone's a billionaire with coins falling out of their starfishes.

I would think that the RT25i's would be sufficient in the role of bipole rears, I suppose if he can trade up on those still, that it wouldn't be a bad move and in fact makes sense.

    By the way, see my post in the 'Off Topic' forum ... I think you're going to like it ;>}

I got the rti38 as surronds and I enjoy the rti70/rti38 combinaison. It is only the csi30 that makes me cry in my setup :-(

    Stef,

What type of mismatch you noticed between CSi30 and RTi70s using AVIA. Is this difference in SPL or something else. I think that a difference in SPL is natural and we can use the receiver's settings to match them. Other than that these speakers should be timber matched.

    Orange/Mantis:
I know RT35 would be better for surrounds and I had the option of using them as surrounds (by trading in RT25i instead) but unfortunaly I dont have that much wall space at the optimal hanging position.

    Izafar,

Just the sound of it. The csi30 is way bright compare to the rti70. I am not saying that the csi30 is a piece of crap. Maybe is it just that the rti70 are way superior to this center making them a weird match (or lack of). Listen for yourself before you buy. I buy the 5 speaker based from the matching recommendation without listening to them... I know, shame on me.

    Izafar.

Yes, I have done an A/B comparrison with the 245 and the 30. Let me tell you, the 30 is noticably better. The 245 sounds muddy compared to the much more transparent and slightly brighter 30. It is very similer to the difference between the RT800i and the RTi70 that Mantis and I both concur on.

Stef has a point, that the 30 isn't as warm as the 40, but I still think it's worth the upgrade.

I upgraded to CSi30 on this weekend and ound it much better than the CS245i (though not as much better as CSi40, I will save that upgrade for later). I also liked the size of CSi30, it is much sleeker and all wood finish makes it very attractive.

Yes, it has the same tweetors as RTi70. If you want to get a much better macth and can shed some more money then consider CSi40 that contains same mid range drivers.
