2 x SR104 + SR6500 + Carpower amps

Hi everybody.
I have a new VW Golf V GTI 2006 and want to built in some sick sound system (my frist ever).

I have not bought anything yet but my configuration right now would be:
Trunk: 2 x SR104 sealed b/c space is important
Front: SR6500
Amps: something from carpower
Capacitor: something from carpower

I realized that noboy talks of carpower here at all, but I have only heard good things about their amps in Germany and that they deliver pretty good performance for cheaper money.

1. Can you plase tell me which Carpower amps would be the right choice to go with, if I wanna go with carpower. I think I need two, one for subs and one for mids, right?

2. For the sub amps is digital better than analog??? what are the pros and cons?

3. Would you recommend Polk amps over carpower regarding soundquality?

4. Also please tell me which version of the SR104 to get.

5. Which capacitor should I get from carpower, or is it not nececary or should I get another brand?

Never heard of Carpower so I cant say one way or the other.

As for which one, get something along the lines of 100x2 for the front speakers and at least 1000x1 (500x2) for the subs. Since youll be buying a Class D amp for the subs, youll need to buy the SVC subs.

No. That would be 1000x1 @ 2 ohms. But right on the front amp. 100x2 @ 4 ohms

You could use a 1400 watt amp but 1000 is plenty, trust me. Plus itll be a lot cheaper and be much less of a draw on your battery. But if you want to go all out, then by all means.

If youre wanting to bi-amp the comps then yes a 4 channel would be best. But if youre just wanting "plug and play" and arent going to be tweaking and tuning constantly a 2 channel will work fine.

Not a big fan or believe in capacitors especially if youre doing SQ listening. Make sure youve got a good battery and alternator first.

Had a look at the Carpower site...no dealers in North America. That explains why I've never heard of them.

Regarding Subs amp, which amp should I take from carpower for my two SR104:

1. VORTEX-2/600: analog, 2x580watt rms at 2ohm (about 530$)
2. D-Rex: digital mono, 1x1050watt rms at 2ohm (about 470$)
3. D-Rex: digital mono: 1x2500watt rms at 2ohm (about 800$)

For my front SR6500 I would go with the VORTEX-2/200 (2x100watt rms @ 4 ohm) b/c I don't need to bi-amp them. Is that a good choice?

Just going off the power specs, Id say the 580x2 would be the best way to go.

As for the mids/highs, 100 watts per channel should be about right. If those are quality amps then they more than likely exceed their rated power so youll be right on.

Many people believe that capacitors are a band aid fix. Doing the "Big 3 Upgrade" usually yields good benefits, it's what I would recommend.

So you really take the 2x580watt rms analog over the digital mono?
I thought in the sub-woofer amp area digital is better than analog, but maybe its the other way around? Pls explain.

I got one more question regarding mids.
I will get the sr6500 for my front, but also want to have rear speakers now. Should I also take the sr6500 for rear, or are dbs or mmc just fine? also, would you take compo or coax for rear.

I will then get the Carpower Vortex 4/400 (4x100rms) for my speakers (no bi-amping)

oh and one more thing. Is it possible to get standard black covers that fit for the db or mmc series. I prefer the "standard" style of srs because it looks less obtrusive than the "rim" style of the db and mmc series.

If you want to use rear speakers for rear fill, there is no need to spend the money on another set of SR's. Any decent coaxial will do fine. Since you will be only using the rear speakers for rear fill (attenuated a good deal compared to the front speakers), most of your sound will be coming from your front speakers. In a properly setup system with rear fill you should not really be able to tell that the rear speakers are even on until you turn them off.

i bet that you could just keep your stock speaker covers man. that way you wouldnt be lookin too flashy or obtrusive u kno. thats what i did with my speakers

Get the head unit that has the best tuning features as in best and most extensive EQ, maybe a good crossover and even better if it has time alignment.

Other than that, choose the one that looks best to you and best fits in your budget.
