    Default B&w Cm7

This is one sexy speaker, I'm guessing it will retail for $2,500 a pair, I saw that each speaker costs 1000 pounds on a site from the UK.
36 inches tall and it uses some of the same build technology from the Nautilus.

Edit: I see that they are actually 1000 Pounds per pair

The 704 are pretty solid speakers, and a huge jump from 603s3. I work with both, and as soon as someone asks about jumping up to the 604s3, I tell them to not even bother and move onto the 704. Cosmetically the 704 leave something to be desired, but soundwise very strong for their price range. As for the cm tower in the pic, the pricing hasn't been set, from what I know of for the US as yet, but I'm looking forward to it. We have the CM center and bookshelves in my shop, and as stereo speakers (their legacy) its pretty decent at the price point. In HT they sound like an upper end HTB setup on a Rotel rsx1057. I'm gonna read the review just posted, I just need to get a .pdf reader!

One thing I have read is that the 700 series center does not have the FST midrange driver, same is true with the Cm series...kind of dissapointing if you want 3 matched speakers upfront.

WTF was B&W thinking? As a B&W fan I find these very disappointing. They make some beautiful cabinets in Denmark. This thing does look like a DIY. Nothing stands out. A box with an uninteresting finish. B&W's market is to the higher end, even at the 700 Series level. The CM Series can easily be sold at Best Buy and fit in. As for performance, I cannot say. But it does look like a mish mash of the 600 Series, 704 & 703. It has the FST, a 700 series tweeter (tube loaded but inside the box) and only 1 low range driver. No matching CM center means that only the HTM1 and up will match it, and most likely overpower it.

It seems like B&W has really let thier bean counters call the shots on the non-Nautilus lines. The XT series looks ok, but looks like every other silver looking speaker on the market. I hope this is not what to expect out of them. The diamond series are nice, but mega $. They are going to lose a lot of their mid line buyers with this stuff.

The only thing I see really wrong with the speaker is that it should have a bottom plinth but overall I kind of like its clean minimalist approach

Here is a shot of my CDM7NT(old 704). While the pic is poor quality, this speaker does not look like any other speaker out there. A speaker should be like another piece of furniture in the house. Minimalist approaches I like are Totem and Vienna Acoustics, simple yet elegant. The CM's just scream budget to me, like speakers you would see next to a plasma, displaying a football game on the cover of the Circuit City flyer. My 2 Cents.

Along with my ears not being able to handle metal tweeters, I have always found the placement of the tweeter on top of the box distracting!

I would have to see the speaker in person, but I like that it is in the standard configuration.

A top-mounted tweeter is for time alignment and soundfield. Though it looks strange, it is for permormance, not looks. Look at Gallo or Vandersteins for the same thing.

I saw this thead and wanted to add to it. I listened to the Cm7's last weekend with Dave Sheppard and let me tell you these are very nice well built speakers for the money. To add to that they sound fantastic. I think they are really detailed and very very clear. They lack in the bottom end but that doesn't even matter as a good subwoofer would do them justice.

I feel for 1800.00 retail they are a killer sounding speaker. I would own them myself.

Ditto what Dan said this is one speaker worth looking at and worth the money paired with Rotel it kicked ass, much better then the 804's and Rotel those two were not near as good a match. We had 1068pre w/ RMB1075 amp, then swaped amps for the BIG boy RB-1092 still the 7's were better. the 804's opened up with the bigger amp but it still needed a better class amp to drive them. But the 7's did all the things very very nicely. Then Dan and I went into................ THE ROOM, OOOOMYGODDDD is all I could say I really can't remember if I said or could say anything but that is the thought that went through my head. But that is for another thread. I really had a good time that day for sure.

Not sure what this comment is about, but I would really like to heard their "D" tweeter. As if the 8 series isn't expensive enough, now the tweeter is made out of diamond...
The CM7 looks ok, but give me an 802. I love the squatty/rounded base with the seperate mid housing and top mounted tweeter. Very distinct.

I'm sorry, but how in the hell do you consider those sexy? Kinda look like a three tittied, quad chinned woman with the inverted square butt, 70's mullet and droopy boob disease, like a find a fold and f**k it type of woman you see at Wally world at 3 in the morning.

But that's just me. Enjoy. ;)

I have heard great things about them. Appearance-wise, I think they are just too bland for a B&W. B&W designs usually stand out with excellent workmanship and unique lines. If we look at these from a distance, only the yelllow Kevlar FST stands out as a B&W.

As for performance, I have heard all the drivers used in this speaker, just not this speaker itself. It is basically a 704 with an FST driver from the 703. I had the earlier 704's and liked them a lot. Only rock music was wanting more.

All is subjective. I just want more. I went to Gallo because B&W could not compete in the same $ range. IMHO

You know the more I listen and the more systems I Install, the more I perfer theater for theater and music for music.
Trying to do both with one system is very hard depending on how picky you are. Most people can be completely happy with a theater system running there music and visa versa.

With all that being said I think the CM7's are one of those DO ALL VERY WELL. Maybe there not the last word in metal music or heavy rock music but come on, does that music really need the last word in clarity??? They sing man, I don't care what they look like,if I want sexy I will look at something else. but after many years of thinking and doing, I realize there comes a line which needs not be crossed. That line can only be placed by the person who believes in what they are doing.

The cm7's are fantastic and I would own them myself. I really dug the demo I had with them and I felt they even sounded better then the 804s which we demo'd against. I think that says alot.

An audio Buddy had some at his home for the weekend. He played some crappy pop music, and I really liked the way the CM7 sang. After we moved on to some decent music, I became less impressed. There's got to be some frequency response jiggery-pokery going on here.

My impression is that the CM7 is not a speaker I could live with. It definitely colors the sound. Depending on one's music collection, that could be a good thing.

    Default beautiful

Wow. This is a beautiful speaker. I love the hard edges and sharp corners in an age where everyone expects rounded, integrated design. They seem faithful to the CM series in that respect. I haven't heard these, but the negative reviews don't scare me. As far as I'm concerned, the more DIY they look, the better (as I put back a sixer of cheap beer). For better or worse, I'm sure they look fabulous in person as compared to crappy little jpegs on the interweb. And unless B&W has radically changed their sonic development philosophies, I'll buy these without an audition.
