My first SoCal MINI Rally (pictures)

This morning I had time to join fellow MINI motor'ers at a local coffee shop and then a rally throughout the OC. What a blast it was, so very cool seeing lines of MINIs on the road.

That classic mini is beautiful!!!! I hope to have an original Mini Cooper one day.

Actually I do like the new ones too, but I think it's a shame they made them front drive. That car would be soooo much more fun in a rear drive config. Oh well.

The original mini's put the MINI in Mini Cooper. Gawd, were they the ultimate driving trip.
By all accounts, the new mini's are great machines, but ..... 32 years ago, riding up to Mt Diablo in California in a mini, my butt about a foot off the ground......sweeeet !

Wouldn't want to travel cross-country in one, though. :)

Ron's joined a cult!!!!!!!!!!!! We better all take cover...........I love the way that some cars just beg for attention. I had a '61 Austin Healey Sprite that drew people like flies.

I used to be a member of a local MGB club several years ago when i had a 71' MGB tourer.. fun car also.. loved going on drives on widing roads... up and down.. in the summer with the top down. My MGB was only 4" off the ground at it's lowest point ;) Man that is livin'.

It's tough to beat the vintage Italians and Brits. I get behind the wheel of my dad's '71 Midget every chance I get. Most the oldies can't put up the acceleration number of new cars, but most new cars don't have a fraction of the driving feel of those old sports cars either.

I too owned a '67 MG midget. My dad and I rebuilt the entire car from ground up. I was a blast to drive but those damn duel-side draft carbs were a PITA to keep tuned. Sold it to a guy in Germany.

This was my first taste of MINI-madness and I love it. Just signed up with a local club as well. I can't imaging not ever owning a MINI from here on out, just way too much fun, what driving should be.

That first pick, that's my daughter, Elise, she's 9. Those original Mini's, tiny!
