    Default Can i do this?

OK so i've decided to put MMC6500's in the boat powered by a four channel amp with 75 RMS per channel. The problem is the front speakers are way up under the windshield and the rears are approx. 10 feet back from those so i came up with the bright idea to add a third pair about 4 feet back from the front pair. Can i series wire the front and middle pair together? If so will it affect power to them? Sound output / clarity?

I would wire the front set off the front channels of the amp and then wire the middle and rear pair, in parallel, to the rear channels assuming your amp is stable to 2 ohms stereo which is should be.

Makes sense to wire the rears now that i think about it. One question though, I've decided to use DB650's which have a 60 rms/180 peak capability. The amp puts out 75W per channel and parallel at 2 ohms would be 100W per channel, can the DB650's handle that kinda of power?

Also (another dumb question) how exactly do you make the parallel connections themselves? Do you connect two wires into one slip connector for positive/negative or use another method? Sorry for the ignorance here but it's been years since i've played with this stuff.

That amp will be fine for the DB's.

As for wiring, just wire the negative of the speakers to the negative of the amp and positive to positive.

So which method is preferred, example A or B. Or does it matter?

doesnt matter, it looks like A would be easier, so I'd go that route

Yup. Both are the same thing and the only difference would be having to buy extra speaker wire.

    Go with A
