need help to identify this TT and receiver

These are for sale locally.. dusty as hell, but the seller swears they work just fine.

He thinks they are both Pioneer units.. can anyone shed any light on either piece?

If they check out ok tonight when i go check them out.. what should I offer him for them? both for $20 he just wants to move them out he says.. so we'll see how motivated his is about selling once i get there.

The strobe light and strobe dots on the platter, the buttons on the deck, and the shape of the tonearm leads me to believe it looks like a Technics table I once owned.

I dunno- I have a pioneer TT that looks just like that; PL-530 I think is the model #. Anyhow, $20 is probably worth it on the turntable alone. Pretty solid entry level TT, fully automatic and separate pitch adjustments for 33rpm & 45rpm.

I can't ID the receiver, but the TT will look like this once the dust clears......it is a Pioneer PL-530.

That's a gofer, worth 20 bucks. The receiver is probably about 45 WPC.

I'm more interested in the TT than the recevier. but the recevier looks to have a wood case. so we'll see. To me, the receiver does not look like a Pioneer. Who knows.

That is NOT a Pioneer receiver...at least not one from the late 60s to early 80s. That was simply not their design. The Pioneers only had a single dial knob beside the tuner. The Pioneers did not "frame" the face of the receiver in wood. From the front you could only see wood on the sides.

It is Pioneer............just a rare, early model. Pioneer Model SX-0100-TW

that does look like the one in the picture i posted... but i agree it doesn't look like any of the Pioneers from the mid to late 70's that i've seen.

Once i see it in person i'll be able to get the model number. The seller didn't know the model number. She's selling it for her father who passed away recently.. and the gear belonged to him.

She also said she has other gear as well.. reel to reel, speakers, casette deck. all Pioneer. so that would lead me to believe this receiver is also a Pionner.

It is Pioneer.

Yep, I looked at my first receiver in my "Wall of Watts" and my SX-1000TW looks pretty close.

PS, If you get the receiver, be sure to get the speaker plugs that plug into the back of the receiver., they don't have nana plugs.

I picked up the Pioneer PL-530 turntable for $15 :) but i turned down the Pioneer SX-1000TW receiver.. it was only about a 5 out of 10 on condition. sucker is 29 lbs heavy.. and is rated at 150wpc at 4ohm, 130wpc at 8ohm. huge power for it's day. circa 1973

Anthony, it was dirty/dusty for sure.. that's not a deal killer though. The wood case appeared to be in pretty good condition. It came with a plastic top to protect the wood in case something is set on top of the receiver.

I may call them and see what they want for it.. we plugged it in, all lights/meter seemed to work. We hooked up some small bookshelf speakers. and got decent sound.

For me it didn't have the "wow" factor of the silver faced Pioneer gear i like. But i bet cleaned up.. it may grow on me. ha ha ha. We'll see.

130wpc @ 8ohm ain't bad. 150wpc @ 4ohm. ;)

Nice find on the TT. I've been around the silver Pioneer stuff for awhile and I've never seen the Pioneer SX-1000TW. It is totally different from anything else they made during that time. A little research brings some interesting pics and info:
