Default Mayday! Mayday! Amp Down, Amp Down...

    ****.

The EIC thingy on my tube amp broke. The prongs receded into the chasis like a turtle's head. I think it came from too much pressure from those alligator jaws on my PS Audio power cord. So I popped the hood to see if I could fix it myself. It's an easy fix for someone with the most rudimentary soldering skills. So I'm gonna take it to a technician.:p

While I was peeking under the amp's skirt, I got to thinkin' about doing some more mods to it. Maybe change out those dreadfully cheap and ancient power supply caps. I dunno yet. Gotta do some research. I'll get back.

Put the screwdriver down slowly and back away from the equipment NOW!

Man, that's a bummer. But, like you said...makes for a good time to upgrade. I like the way you think!

Sorry to hear that, dude. Make sure the techie doesn't cheat you. It shouldn't cost more than $70. It's a five minute fix, but they charge by the hour. You can always order an audiophile quality IEC socket and have him install it for you. Some technicians use cheap off the shelf parts.

The cap upgrade is a good idea.
