    Default How's my setup idea?

Hello. First, thanks for a great forum. I've been reading awhile, and finally joined.

I recently purchased the SurroundBar with free PSW10 sub. It was supposed to be connected by my crappy RCA receiver, but it bit the dust sometime during my move and its lengthy storage. This was probably a good thing! So, now I'm in the market for a receiver and HD TV. I have my eyes on a Pioneer 1015TX that I can get at a good price from a local dealer. I have also (currently) convinced myself to get the Sharp Aquos 52" LCD.

My room is 16' wide (this is the wall the LCD will be on), and 18' long. The sofa will be approx 12' from the LCD. The room is 8' high. I did run 2 speaker wires to the rear wall (close to the ceiling), just in case. But I'm hoping to leave them hidden!

    So...

    1) Is this a decent setup? Will this Pioneer work well with this speaker?
    2) Will lip/audio sync be an issue with this LCD? I'm concerned, since this Pioneer does not have an audio delay setting.

And any other helpful comments would be appreciated.

BTW, I did test drive the SurroundBar at the store and at a friends (with his Sony receiver). I found that it performed amazingly well.

    Thanks.

e-bay the sub. Get some thing that will do real sub bass. I think the pio should be fine. others might chime in with some suggestions on a sub. I got a cheap klh it's not the most musical, but is ok for movies(it will go lower than the psw you have).

    Thanks.

I have an opportunity to buy the PSW12 for $100 Cdn (around $80 US) brand new. The Future Shop is clearing them out. Would this be a worthwhile upgrade? I really don't want to spend a ton of money.

The surround bar is intended to be used with gear such as the Pioneer. Our factory demo of the bar was done with a typical Onkyo receiver and a Polk psw450 sub. I was really impressed by the surround bar and its ability to simulate having speakers set throughout the room. I would just use the free sub to start with and see how you like it. If you have to move on the clear out right away go ahead, you can stack the subs.

Stack the subs!?! I think my wife would have a fit! (I think I would like the idea, though). But, we agreed on the soundbar to keep the number of speakers down. So, I will try to sell the PSW10 and buy the 12, if it is in fact a worth while upgrade. (I think I should almost be able to get the $100 for the 10! It's still in it's box, and only tested once.) I just don't want to go through the process of trying to sell it, if there's not going to be a noticeable difference.

    Opinions?

BTW, I picked up the Pioneer (just couldn't say NO to such a good deal). NICE!

    Thanks.

Listen to some subs and see what you like. I like many others here do not care for polk subs, each for our own reasons. Many here like svs, and hsu and the likes.
