But, I don't see what's so funny. I mean, they all bought V6 Camaros, after all. What can you expect?

It tickles me I guess because I remember the days of great impression that these young men/boys are in where $500 seemed like a lot to spend on a car stereo system and because a system was loud made it a "good" system. A few of the members do offer some good advice but most have not yet expanded past the generic brands or even considered exactly what the thread starter was looking for.

Although, it is rather depressing thinking I spent 500 on a high quality head unit that hasn't worked correctly since day one...

I think maybe I have just become accustomed to the main posters here and their perceptions on CA. Just out of curiosity, how would most of you go with 500 available to spend on CA (minus installation)?

I'd go with a stock radio, david navone LOC's, 4-channel amp, 2 for the front, the other 2 channels bridged to the rear and sound deadening for the front doors

I'd take the cheapest Eclipse HU I could find, a solid 4 channel amp (Phoenix Gold?), coaxials for the front, and bridge the rears for a sub.

Then I'd beg from Mom & Dad the amount I was over. :p
