Default Well, that was a bummer.....

    Hello

Was all excited today, I finally received my Forbidden Planet Ultimate Collectors Edition in HD-DVD. But when I popped it in the player it looked like it was playing in standard def and sure enough the tv was showing 480. I looked at the disc and it did look like a standard def disc on the back and I assume it would say HD_DVD on the disc which it doesn't either....

The outside wrapper on the box says HD-dvd so apparently they put the wrapper on the standard def box......which there is two versions of, hd-dvd and standard.

    Heres a link too it:
    standard

Anyway their sending out a replacement so we'll see if this happens in the next package...

    Well....Strike II....

Got the replacement today and same thing, its got an HD-DVD wrapper on the box and the disc is standard def.

Man, I don't think I'm missing something here. I would assume that the disc would say HD-DVD on it and when you play it isn't there a big HD-DVD logo that comes up before the movie?

I'm playing it on an xbox 360 HD-DVD player into a Samsung lcd. The tv doesn't do 1080P but I have the output set at 720P and when I played King Kong it was showing 720. But when I play this it shows 480.....

I guess I'm going to just have to bag it till they get the packaging straightened out...

Just an update on my ongoing saga, if anyone really cares....

I decided to go the top on this one and I called up Warner Home Video yesterday and they forwarded my name and number to the DVD division. Sure enough just a bit ago I get a call from Olga and shes going to send out a prepaid shipping label to send it too them for the correct replacement.

She also said they've been getting alot of calls lately with the same problem. And I think Amazon is aware of the problem now too.

Anyway I guess it pays to eliminate the middle man sometimes....
