LP to CD...need some direction

Does anybody know of a place or person that has a serious system , that could take the music from a very old and cherrished LP and burn it to CD..

For a fee of course..


I don`t just want it copied...I want it done right..
The LP is out of print and I found a copy on the bay, thanks to a member here that gave me heads up...

Long story short, I don`t have a TT, and won`t for some time, so I need this mastered to CD..The right way

The LP will probably need to be cleaned and may have a scratch or two , but it should be doable....I hope

BD if you want it done really right, call Pierre at Mapleshade records and see if he'll do a little pro bono work for you. It can't hurt to ask, he's a regular guy.

BD, it really doesn't take a lot of effort to do it yourself. On a reasonable computer and the right software (with some correct hardware), you can do it all yourself.

As an audio/video engineer, most places love it when you ask them to do it since it takes very, very little resources and is very easy to do. If you can't get it done probono and if you're interested, I can write you up a guide to do it yourself, with the costs being less than what it would cost you to do it professionally with the same results. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Madmax can do this. He's making some analog CD's for us polkies to test.
I guess the process takes time though, since we've been waiting close to a year... :) :) :)

Audio Technica has a $99 job also. USB interface, rip your LP's lossless to your pc, and the burn your cd's.

I seen this yesterday walking around the mall in "Sharper Image" I wasn't impressed seemed like a fairly nice pick up on it but the platter had a very cheap feel to it. No weight at all plastic but for $99 bucks what are getting to get?

If you haven't found someone to do it in the meantime, I hope soon to have a system setup to archive my modest collection of vinyl. I bought a copy of Enhanced Audio's DC Six, which is supposed to be a pretty good mastering and noise reduction program. I'll be using a VPI Scout TT with either a Shure V15 TypeVxMR MM, a Dynavector 10X5 MC, or an NOS Adcom Van Den Hull MC cartridge, whichever I decide gives the best results. I'll input via a Jolida JD 9 phono preamp to a Creative X-Fi Platinum sound card and burn out on a Memorex CD-R.
Meant to have this up and running over a year ago, but since then my house has been flooded 5 times and my office got kind of soggy. I can send you a PM when I have things up and running and have figured out the software.
By the way, is it a 33 rpm LP? I don't currently have a 72 rpm table and cartridge. The program can adjust the speed, but you need a different cartridge for 78s.

They have come so far with TT technology since I was a kid spinning the only thing out there....vinyl....no such thing as cd`s or digital

I remember when casett`s were the hot ticket, and if you wanted it to really sound good , you bought very exspensive high bias tapes....which I did, without really knowing what bias meant !!!

Well, since I already listen to Vinyl, have a computer that is used to store compressed music and play games, etc, the turntable, phono preamp, cartridge, sound card, CD-RW drvie were already givens so the only additional expense was the software.
I remember back to before casettes to 8-track tapes. Back then, a reel-to-reel was the bee's knee's.

Actually, I've kept Mike waiting OVER a year to get his 85 LP's done. Just can't take anything on until thats finished. I was thinking maybe 3-4 months to start with... Ha...

The Several Shades of Jade album is good jazz, but the Breeze From the East cuts are just pop and hardly what any jazz fan really wants.

I have done about a dozen album to CD conversions and consolidated the best methods based on trial and error from several sources. Unfortunately, the steps are based on Adobe Audition only. It's a Word file.

I had this album when I was a teenager...

It`s not the same "breeze from the east" though..

It`s like an after remix with some of the same songs played differently..

I've been using a SW package called "GoldWave" to copy some old tapes I have of music recorded off the radio long ago. They are sentimental.

My Denon deck plugs into my sound card and Goldwave records it. Just like dubbing a tape. Then it gets burned using Mediaplayer. The end result sounds just as good as the original, however your taste might deem it inferior.

You can get a fully functional demo here for free. It stops working after a certain number of "commands". I've been using it for a couple weeks now on the demo. It is definately worth $50.

WELL worth it! funny how music you haven't heard for awhile stays imprinted in yer head! Madmax' recording process far surpasses my expectations! He is however human;) . He's got a very full plate. If he decides to take on more recording projects, you've got my recommendation!:)

I'm good, but I've been very slow. Actually, its the equipment that makes the difference. I just sit there for hours like an idiot with my finger on the track marking button... :)
