He is very hit and miss artist, IMO, but his best (which are great) was The Sunset Tree with We Shall All Be Healed coming in a close second. The latest CD is Get Lonely, which I can't get into. :p

If you ever get a chance to see John live, do it.

    I was at this show:

Really though, he oughta do that song in concert. I'm sure from him it would sound 100% ironic. Maybe that and a tounge in cheek version of Barry Manilow's I Made It Through the Rain.
Maybe the same reason that Barry Manilow likes rainbows.

I once saw a unicorn running down a rainbow chasing a gumdrop and a dream.

I wrote a song about it.
It's called "Unicorn Running Down a Rainbow Chasing a Gumdrop and a Dream (in D minor)"
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Songs that speak to my husband's dark side I guess...
All of his songs up until Sunset Tree aren't about anything real. He's much like Damien Jurado in that way, although you wouldn't know it's all fictional by listening to either artist.

Sunset Tree is actually so serious and real it's kind of depressing when you get down to it -- yet it's also one of his most musically upbeat albums. It's very strange to say the least.

Funny you should mention it... I had a hankerin' for Fred and the gals last night. Popped in their greatest hits (in HDCD, no less). Quiche Lorraine got a repeat... as did a couple of other tracks. But I had to go back on Quiche. If not for the music, most definitely the lyrics. Gloriously ridiculous.

I am surprised no one has made any comment on this...IS THIS FOR REAL???

Do you have a sister?????...wait...I've been happily married for 20 years....besides, if my wife shared this audio craziness we would be totally broke.

Anyway, just tell your husband that it's too late...he lost you already ;)
