Default RT series is bright as the sun...with no shade

So I removed my shade, err, I mean subwoofer.

And the sunlight came full bore from my RT speakers.

Never in my life have I heard such a forward presentation.

The bass is pretty good though at the same time. Not near enough to keep up with the top end. Definitely not a very balanced sound.

A subwoofer really alters your sound. Thats for sure. Its like immediate fatigue right now around here.

Im gonna go drain the blood from my ears.

It's probably the crappy source components you have The RT/RTi series has a bright and forward top end, but it's not that bad. Good thing you don't have Klipsch! Maybe you need some of those old BBC voiced speakers from England, they all sounded like the tweeter was in the next room

The Odyssey is VERY neutral. Adds nor takes away anything. Its straight lace power.

The Crown is bright as a mofo. You gotta decrease the treble -6db WITH a subwooferon.

I think alot of it has to do with the tweeter height, its about 2" above normal and thus seems to diffuse the treble into a mess. Very forward sounding, without a doubt.

Like I said, probally need a rug...

The Tweets were a little more doable with the sub evening out the sound....

Remove the sub and those highs really started to "shine" hehe...

Curious to see how the Ty's work without a sub. Should be here next week, I hope!

those 55's were allways a tad forward. great for movies, not so much for music in my eyes but I never found them unlistenable. must be a perception thing since your rig has changed drastically with the removal of the sub.

like I said, theyre a bit forward, but I never found them THAT bright.

for a music only system I have rti8's and a harmon kardon 3480 stereo receiver. I like to listen to music loud and the 8's are still harsh on my ears. The treble is not even turned up a quarter of the way, I really cannot take it anymore and am thinking of selling them...

640 bucks anyone? Brand spankin new...not a mark

Hrmmm my RT400s are not bright but pretty neutral to warm,I guess it has to do with the processor and amps.
