Cheap way to get into maggies, especially if you're local and don't have to pay shipping:

Decent price, but if it goes any higher its almost cheaper to just buy a set new for 500. That and then if you want to go bigger you can trade in the MMG's for credit toward the bigger pairs.

    it's a BIN. I think the MMG's are 600 new now. If you're local, it's a good deal.

I agree. Shipping Maggies makes my twinge as they are kinda fragile and prone to get damaged if not packaged and handled right....

I hate to think the "fun" John will have when he moves making sure those Maggies dont get damaged lol

Same here! And the boxes they come with are absolutely not adequate to ship in. You have to make your own box around the factory box. When I see sellers advertise that they're shipping 1.6's or even 3.6's in the original boxes it makes physically ill.

I don't have issues moving them with a helper, but I wouldn't want somebody else doing it...

Yup, if I buy em they will be either NIB from a dealer or Magnepan, local, or from a trusted forum member who knows how to ship lol

Yeah but the 20's are a bit big and you cant exactly put them on the truck sandwiched between other items like you might be able to with something like SDA's lol...

They almost warrant their own Uhaul , just like his amps

RTi6's from Newegg - $149.99/pair (with free shipping) with coupon code EMCNEHA74. I just ordered a pair myself for a bedroom setup. While they only have them in black and I'd much rather have cherry, they are hard to beat for that price...

Should buy the bundle and get the guy to ship it.

The CD player is neat. I`ve never seen one or even know Carver made them (or cassette decks even).

Not sure what all the speakers are, but looks like a pretty decent package price reguardless. Are they RT800i's or RTi70's and a big center, sub, bookshelves and receiver... no affiliation

LOL... yeah, but the TFM-35 I am getting is local and I can demo before I buy it. I got burned 1 time too many on not demo'ing gear before I purchased to do it again. Unless its a forum member that is . Then I trust em without demo'ing gear. Also if a forum member heard a deal out and told me it was a good buy I would think about it, but like I said the TFM-35 is local so I hopefully will have it in a couple days to demo in my system prior to purchase.

I do still have hopes to get maybe another one or two 2 channel amps for my secondary system and some passive subs I want though...... But those will probably be sourced from trusted sources. Rather pay the extra cash for quality than get a deal to find out it needs a refurb lol

Quote Originally Posted by Drenis View Post

Yeah if I was into CD's I would go after one of his players as they can also function as a pre and have a tubed output . NooshinJohn used to have one of the single disc players and sold it to another local forum member (IndyHawg) and I have got to play with it for a week or two myself and its pretty sweet!

But I am all digital like you, and the CD player is more than I want to play given the usage I would get from it. Maybe I will get one someday to add to my secondary 2 channel system I build (which will include a Xbox, Laserdisc player, TT, etc)
