anybody know how it compares to HSU's current offering?

Just my own opinion for what its worth. HSU appears to make a fine product. I studied their products and am impressed. But due to price I decided on buying the Atlantic SB-1000. I doubt Atlantic made this SB-1000 one can't find it in their product list.

Anyway I'll just give you my experience, even though on parts-express all ratings are tops, my review was not posted by them - for whatever reasons. So here is my experience.

""I could not find any cabinet blemishes either, but quality control in the assembly of the cabinet is something to be desired on mine.
Mine has an irritating cabinet vibration at medium volume. Perhaps if I blast the volume as others have it may covers the vibrating noise ? maybe ? - but my wife wouldn't allow that.

I took off the front face and put more volume behind this sub after my wife left the house. I found air was coming through 2 screw holes, holding down the speaker. My inspection found that 2 speaker screws were just pushed into an over-sized drill hole (no wood meat to hold the speaker down). I taped the 2 screws & pushed them back in which decreased the cabinet vibration somewhat.

A week later I checked those 16 screws holding down the amplifier in the rear. Over half weren't even tightened down, not even TWO (2) finger tight. And one (1) just turns. I still hear a rattle vibration inside toward the rear of the cabinet.

I can't play my music loud because I have no office door, so I must be considerate to the rest who watch TV which low volume may make the vibration more pronounced ?
This woofer may be fine for Movies, (to shake the house with an explosion) but I use mine for music only. Comparing this SB-1000 and 2 HT-Sats to my 5 year old PC system Yamaha ($250.00 sub & 2 Sats) one can hear a world of difference. There is absolutely no comparison in clearness my Yamaha has over this SB-1000

All said: I paid $232.54 incl. S&H which isn't bad for a Movie sub or if "Rap" is ones listening choice. I doubt parts-express will post my experience since I posted my review over 7 days ago.
