But of course
OK braved the torrential downpours and picked them up a few hours ago. One word to describe them: MINT!! Posting a new thread on these 5A's so as not to throw the thread off.
Thanks again for the heads up Pycroft--I usually check CL several times a day, but sometimes I just use craiglook.com, but it seems that its a day or two behind the real CL. Of course today I hadn't used the real CL.![]()

Don't know...grabbed it off of a website...maybe you have to be a member of newegg?
I am a customer of new egg... You have to log in to apply the code....I did and was shown invalid :( Pretty good deal even without the code, thats why I was like cool....but it wouldnt apply.
They must have only had the coupon code valid for a short time...the dealnews link showed it was posted 2 days and 6 hours ago. That would have been a fantastic deal....even paying taxes because newegg is here in CA.
The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club
I only see 3 reviews and nothing particular about them that stands out to me except the one guy who doesn't believe in them but still gave it 4 starts. None of them really talked about the merits of the outlet itself.
I guess I still don't see how this is a deal.
Not meant to offend or anything but this is in the Audio Deals of the Day thread and just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing an oppotunity or something, since sometimes sales may only be displayed to members or certain geographical areas.

what do you guys think of this one? i dont even know what model they are.
^I THINK those are Monitor 10s. If they're in good shape, that's a pretty good buy.
Go check them out. :)
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.
I think you are right. but vintage polks like these are usually for stereo 2 channel purposes right? I can only afford the space for one system right now and it is for HT purpose. Would these work fine as the surrounds or surround backs or HT at all? The Fxi's are what I'm really after but they are still a bit too expensive for me...
Edit: Actually I could always add them to the Zone 2 on my receiver and squeeze them in somewhere...

What else do you have? I think a full HT built around the old vintage Monitors would sound excellent.
I'd personally run 10s in front, 7s in back, and whatever center would match well.
The 10s would work fine as surrounds, but i'd be more worried about them being a better/bigger sounding speaker than your mains, depending on what you have currently.

Got my Audio Advisor catalog on Friday.
They still have some Cambridge 640c v2 CDP players for $349.
Darn good deal.
H9: If you don't trust what you are hearing, then maybe you need to be less invested in a hobby which all the pleasure comes from listening to music.
They're VERY nice speakers, and at that price a complete no-brainer. :D
I would suggest you go see if they work, and if they do, pick them up, don't bother spending a lot of time demo-ing them at the seller's house.
If you happen to NOT like them, i'll buy them from you for the same price +shipping immediately. :)
