Well they look cool but I've heard horn speakers that look just like them at Quest for Sound, can't remember the maker off the top of my head, IIIII ya couldn't get used to them and I spent a good hour with them and they were setup properly and driven by a beautiful Raysonic integrated tube amp (55 wpc) with those big light bulb tubes in the power amp stage and they had that "second anode" (I use to fix black & white and color TVs in the early '70s so forgive my terminology) connector on top. When we switched it over to a pair of $8k Jaz speakers OYE VEY how lush and beautiful it sounded.

Mark Levinson Spirit speakers+amp and speaker stands.

    No affil - http://monterey.craigslist.org/ele/1950952277.html

Looked at an ad on audiogon, and I guess the amp thats included in the sale above is the same small amp that comes with the pair on a'gon.

I'd never trust craigslist for shipping. Too many scammers.

I don't follow? "meant to be" by who?

If the guy gets an offer that he likes, he might be willing to ship? And he could be a well rated seller from A'gon or even here...like we've seen many times?

It's designed to be local. Not designed for shipping or buyer protection like audiogon or eBay. If a buyer wants to have a item shipped and the seller agrees there's nothing to protect the buyer, and there's nothing the buyer can do to get his money back.

I understand and I do realize that. I only mentioned it because I figured most members on here are seasoned enough that they understand the risks and can decide from their own experience....since this a rare item. But, in hindsight, I guess there are quite a few new members here (and many viewers who don't post) that might not realize it. Dually noted. Back to our programming. :D

    Thanks

It's the main premise of Craigslist, mainly to avoid being scammed.
    http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams

At the top of every posting is:
Avoid scams and fraud by dealing locally! Beware any deal involving Western Union, Moneygram, wire transfer, cashier check, money order, shipping, escrow, or any promise of transaction protection/certification/guarantee
Sure if somebody wants to ship something I would imagine they could if they wanted to-I don't think its against the terms of use, but as leroy stated--it's 100% buyer/seller risk--Of course there are inherent risks with local in-person deals as well.
I know I won't do anything other than in-person deals via CL. If I want to involve shipping I'll deal with established forums like CP, eBay or Audiogon.

Energy RC-LCR on Woot today for $349.

I personally have a set of the RC-10s in my 2ch rig. I actually prefer them over my LSi9s slightly.

This is ridiculous. This player still fetches $1200 easy and retailed for $3500. If it was black i'd be all over it just on principal.

Probably a dumb question, but.....anyone know how much of an improvement this would be over my Pioneer Elite PD65 with the stable platter? I have been considering upgrading my PD65 by adding a DAC to it, but would this Arcam be as good as doing the combo?

I know I can add a DAC to the Arcam too in the future, and be in really good shape, but if I bought this (or another good CDP of similar price) I most likely wouldn't be able to add a DAC for a loooong time?
