The list is long and distinguished.

You want something vintage? Used on a budget? Giant Killers? Power and pricepoint are always a good place to start, what do you want to drive, and what can you spend?

    Cheers,
    Russ

McIntosh will run you a small fortune.....Cary, Conrad Johnson, Sonic Frontiers.....There is quite a long list, like Russ said.......$$ plays a big part of it.....I have heard jolida is a great bang for the buck.....The only tube piece I have is a Carver 490t cd player at the moment.....

I'd look for stereo amps in the 40 to 60 watt range, and bi-amp your 15's and c each with a single amp. Jolida is great, so is Anthem, Quicksilver, Cary / AES, BAT, etc.

A few members have been using 'TAD' amps, with good sucess on a budget. The Primaluna stuff out of China has gotten rave reviews recently.

Don't rule out hybrids either, such as Counterpoint (tube front end, sand output).

I've been hording old Sherwood mono tube integrateds to hotrod for a 5.1 tube setup one day.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Russ hording gear???? Naw...Would love to peek in that closet.

Have you thought of a tube pre and SS amp?Might be happier in the lower regions going that route.
Check out Butler hybrids also, very musical and can be had on the used market at good prices.

I just got a Primaluna Prologue 4. Initially I was kind of leary of the self biasing feature, but quite frankly, it sounds great. Considerable improvement over the Dynaco ST70 Series ll it replaced. You probably couldn't go wrong with a TAD either. I think both in the same price range. Good luck in whatever you go with.
