New System Help

Hi everyone, I'm new to Polk but from what I've read on this forum I think I'll be very happy with my choice. Here is what I have:

1 set of MMC6500 (front doors)
1 c400/4
1 c500/1
2 ID10v3 D2 subs
Stock HU for now

This is for an 2007 Tacoma DC. What I would like to know is how to wire the 6.5's to the amp. Should I wire the components with the crossovers to the amp, or not use the crossovers and simply wire the tweeters/mids straight to the amp?
P.S. do you think this setup is good or overkill?

Looks like a very solid system!

Id skip the crossover altogether and use the excellent crossover network on the c400.4

Tweeters off the front channels and mids off the rear channels. This way you can fine tune the tweeters output with much more flexibility.

Thanks for the info guys, but when wiring active according to the manual they show to use the pre-eq switch. Can you still fine tune with this on or is it supposed to be "set it and forget it"?

I still have a lot of work ahead of me as i still need to build the box for my subs which have not arrived yet, and dynamat the interior. So I'm trying to get this all wired in my head for now...again thanks for the help.:D

You can set it on to start off with and if it doesnt sound right to you, turn it off and mess with the settings on the amp.

Just use 'baby steps' -- playing around is all fine and well, but do so at low power. Once you get the hang of things 'playing around' won't be a mildly dangerous idea.
