Default Got the sub hooked up.

I finally had the time to get my sub hooked up. It's a svs 12.1 driver (purchased on here) in a 48" x 16" sonotube. I have it hooked to an outlaw m200 amp (325w @ 4ohm). It sounds great. Not boomy and pulls much lower then my PSW 303. However, I was expecting it to have more volume (louder). Not sure if it's not enough power but SVS told me to use 300wpc. Any suggestions?

    I have the 12.1 with a Rythmik audio amp. 380@4ohms in a 4.2cuft incloser. No..the 12.1 is not loud, but it does preasurize my 16' x 22' x 8' room pretty well.

The amp should provide plenty of power. Play around with placement. How big is your room? If you have a fairly large room, your experience is understandable.

Might be several things...ping Ed or Tom. Off the top my head, it could be the room/placement (1st choice), but maybe it's a combination of the tube volume and amp with no rumble filter. Without protection below 16hz, you might be wasting power trying to make the driver go beyond it's limits (that's a total guess, I'm dangerous not knowledgeable). I'd think you should probably max out volume ~ 106-109dbs.

Have you run any tones to find out what your FR is?

Great idea. For that size room, two sonosubs would be awesome. Plus, for 2-channel, you'll have stereo subs. Oh, yeah!

This is going to take some jewelry to counter the negative WAF.
Keep in mind, this is in my living room. Two black tubes just shy of 5 foot is not going to go over well.

this is very common as people are coming from lesser quality subwoofer and then replace them with the likes of an SVS.. they say the sound isn't as loud..
well you can always raise the volume.. but in the end.. the subwoofer is just doing what it was built to do.. dig low and deep.. ie: more accurate than alot of other subs.

crank the sub to your liiking. you will not damage it.. people always run their subwoofers hotter than the rest of their speakers... crank it up!!!!!

People are used to hearing that annoying 40-70hz loudness. The SVS has a very flat Fr responce way below 40hz. With a proper rumble filter (like on my Rythmik audio amp) , the SVS sub can reach levels of dBs way beyond most. And once you get used to the "dissapearence" of the SVS, the other "subs" just seem like hollow coffins.

I was wondeing about that. I never had a good sub before. The best was the Psw 303 I just replaced. It sounds great and I feel it more than hear it. I guess it is more my lack of knowledge then anything else.
Can I buy a rumble filter by itself?

After a vey bad day at work, I got home and had a 1/2hour by myself. I poped in a cd and played with the settings. HOLY BASS!!!!!!
Much more musical then the polk sub. Clean crisp tight bass. I still my make another one because , well lets face it, it would be very cool.
