Default Sony equipment that may not suck?

I have never heard of any of these components, but they look a lot better than anything else I've seen Sony put out; and for $1500, they better be. Has anyone heard of such things or is it still just a pile of Sony parts.

Sony ES is the only mainstream Sony worth owning.

Someone on the forum here owns stacks of Sony ES gear. I've liked the couple sources (SCD-C222ES, CA90-ES, SCD-C2000ES, DVP-S9000ES) I've owned of theirs. All built like tanks except the 2000ES which is just average built quality.

Most of them retailed for $1K+ when new.

I am currently using a Sony DVP-NS500V DVD/CD/SACD player in my headphone system (with Grado SR60) that simply rocks. No mechanical problem whatsoever and dead silent in operation.

I also have a Sony SCD-CE595 CD/SACD 5-disc changer that sounds excellent. In fact, you can pick up a refurbished SCD-CE595 right now directly from Sony for $80.00 shipped.

Otherwise, I haven't had much trouble with Sony products....still have a Sony integrated amp from 1987 that power my mom's music system.

Sony ES SACD players, and Sony ES DVD players (the higher end ones) are very good, IMO.

Default The inside build on that TA-N80ES amp is beautiful

They'll heat a room, lots of dynamic power (little under heat sinked).
I'd like the 3 ES amps and pre to play around with.
For the price I'd want to see it all first and avoid the expense shipping
    all that weight.

Here a small shrine you have to look at the guts on that TA-N80 amp

I'm a big fan of Sony ES gear, especially the stuff from late 80's/early 90s.
Check out The Vintageknob.org is a great resource for lot of details on those ES dream pieces along with many of the great TOTL japanese vintage equipment. There are many big fans over at Audiokarma too.

I currently have Sony ES tuner, 2-ch preamp, SACD, and cassette deck. I used to have a beautiful ES integrated amp, but I sold it to get my big time Parasound amp.

It's weird seeing that web site and seeing the Sony name on lots of higher end products.

I have always liked Sony's CD players, from bottom to top. To me, Sony is the best CDP for someone on a tight budget.
