Congrats - TV's have come a long way in the last 6 years. Now you have a real reason to upgrade that even your wife should agree with. (at least you will be able to pass the "whats wrong with the TV you have now?" question - to be honest, I rarely make it past that so I am unsure what questions come next....)

TV went bad, awesome. Time to go for that front projector and 96 inch screen. Forget buying a new TV, if you have space opt for a projector man. From there it only gets bigger.

Yeah, I have a 57" rear projection Hitachi HDTV (integrated digital tuner) that I spent $3k on three or four years ago that I literally cannot give away for free. Unfortunately it still works.

I was at the big box store yesterday and saw a 40" LCD or Plasma (I wasn't really paying attention)listing for $999. It wasn't even on sale.

Dude - throw that RCA in the trash heap and go flat. It is extremely affordable.

I listen to the HT Guys podcast (very good, I recommend), and they think that what we used to upgrade every three or four years - the PC - is now the TV.
Do you hear that buzzing noise?
