    Default Sub Woofer Question

Some are powered some need a seperate amplifier. Does this depend on the receiver you use or will it always require an amp or be seperately powered.

Receivers never power subwoofers. Subwoofers are either active (powered, no amp needed, just connection to directly to receiver) or passive (require external power amp).

It does not depend on the receiver. It will either be self-powered, or require power from an external amp.
