    Smile Coolest fan ever?

I walked by a display at bestbuy and felt a nice breeze I turned to just see a ring. After reading it was a fan less fan! I thought it was cool a bit pricey but cool.

If you're going to spend over $300 on a little desktop fan...you deserve to be shot on sight.

Like polkatese said, give the Chinese a year, and these will be available at Walmarts nationwide for $29.99.

I doubt they will come out with a cheaper version anyone over time. If you notice any dyson products many have tried to make copies but failed. Dyson has there stuff down packed.

Yeah, and at their inception the company was nearly devastated by a massive TM suit. Now that they are on their feet, they don't screw around. They litigate heavily to protect their property rights.

The drivers in F1 use a very small version of that concept in the cockpits when they are sitting in the pits during qualifying.

    Cool device.

Well, they don't quite rise to the level of Monster. Dyson's not a bully. They actually have legit claims. Their vacuum technology evidently is highly prized in the industry. They still have many years of patent protection, but companies like Hoover and others try to create alternatives that are nonetheless very similar. So when I talk about litigating heavily, I'm not talking about suing the Mom and Pops, I'm talking about going after companies as big as GE who think they can get away with stealing a littler companies hard work, in this case Dyson.

I have to say IMHO that fan is pretty much an expensive solution to a probem that doesn't really exist.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

That's crazy talk! "Choppy air" has plagued beings since the advent of the fan! The world can finally be at peace!

Actually, I can see this technology being adapted for use in cars to create a quieter ride with the air-conditioning blasting or in a music server to eliminate distraction. I can't wait to see where this technology goes. I think this first example is just an introduction to other great possibilities.

Yeah I suppose I can see that, but a 300 buck table fan....Nooooo.

If it's a quiet fan....this would be nice tech for computers, servers etc.

The traditional way to move air without a fan is to use a plasma (ion) generator. That's not rocket science. Well, actually, it is rocket science, but it's pretty old school. No idea if that's how this titular "fan" works (but I am guessing it is).
    all the best,

Well, if you watch the video it doesn't seem all that quiet. But the laminar flow this thing produces must really make one's nipples erect. Whether or not that is worth it to you at $300 depends on everyone's own opinion. All nipples are not created equal.

I love the idea and design. Why didn't I think of that?...

Has anybody seen one of those hologram bowls where a coin looks like it's sitting right there on top. You go to grab it and it's ungrabable. I get the same feeling here. Trickery, but cool as s**t

Well it is $$$$$ and buisnesses can have tax write-offs when they buy one.Way too expensive for the common person.

He said it's easy to clean. Well the real fan blades DEEP inside will definately get dirty or DUSTY with out a doubt!!! I can see the small intake holes collecting some of the air dust and then being easy to wipe clean but over time and depending on the air cleanliness that internal fan will need cleaning.

I heard the loud noise too when he turned it up. I guess his internal fan still has to chop the air too. Oh well, it's still cool for low noise at low speed but reg. fans are quiet on low speed too.

Just like seeing the 3D tv , I will make a trip to Best Buy to see this and feel it first hand. I know I can't afford it but I can experience it for free.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies . I am glad to be a part of a select group that tries to take our auditory and visual senses to a higher level: we EXPERIENCE them.... GOT SDA?...GOT SUNFIRE? ...GOT Maggies?

I turned the one up at the store still very quiet compared to regular fans pushing out less air than it does.
