    Default crossover RTI10

Hi Guys, I have a Yamaha rec powering my mains and i'm having trouble finding the crossover point for RTI10's. Can someone give some advise on the best crossover point to set it at. Also using Velodyne DPS12 with the towers.

One more thing, do i set the crossover on the sub as well or disable it and use the receiver's setting..

Almost forgot, my mains are set to small.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi Handyman and welcome,

There are plenty of other guys who I hope will chip in and give some good advice, but as I too have the RTi10s and a Yammie receiver (AVR), maybe I can give you my experience.

I do not use the sub out on the receiver and run speaker cables to my sub, letting it do all the crossover work. I also have the RTi10s set to large and no sub in the AVR menu.

Others will advise to use the sub out on the AVR and set the crossover there, but it comes down to personal choice and you will not miss out on any bass - even in 2 channel when you hook up this way (specifically Pure Direct, when it would not send the sub a signal when you use the sub out on the AVR, whereas the sub receives the signal with my connection type). Check this link within this site for more info:

Hope this helps and good luck!

You should try different x-over points and see what blends the best for your set-up. Here is the spec page of the RTi10's:

What you want to look at is the Lower -3 db limit.

Often times people will set all speakers (if capable) to a x-over of 80hz. With my RTi10's, I have them crossed at 60hz.

I find that disabling the x-over on the sub and just using the receivers x-over works best for me.
