Center Speaker

Can anyone tell me if it is a problem to turn a center channel speaker upside down with the tweeter on the bottom. I have the CSI40 on top of a 55 inch projection TV tilted down, but the tone seemed to be off(seemed "flat"). I flopped it upside down and it did seem to open up the sound a bit. I have rti70's in the front and fxi30 in the rear.

If it sounds good to you, run with it! (unless somehow this has a negative effect on the crossover or magnetic shielding - which I doubt)

Agreed, hell, stand it on end if thats what blows your skirt up....

there was a guy on here earlier this year.. who claimed his speakers were suppose to be placed upside down. several people on here had words for him. but i guess there really is not harm in turning them over. but really, what will you gain by it? i wouldn't suggest doing that with any kind of tower speaker.. they would be to unstable upside down.

oops! my bad. i did turn my cs400i on it's side and tired it out as a left front. didnt' sound real good.

the dude insisted that if you turned the CS400i on it's end it sounded better. I tried it for grins and didn't notice that it sounded any different but it sure looked silly.

Have you tried to bi-wire it? I have a cs400, and when I bi-wired it, it seemed to open up a lot. sounds pretty darn good when wired normally too, but opened up and sounds great now... good luck.

also, does your receiver have eq controls for the speakers? I have a ton of equalizer adjustments on my receiver for every speaker. I like to fiddle with it to get the best possible sound. You may also want to fiddle with that as well.

It might be you listening position. Do you have a tall tv and are you looking up to it? The 2-3" drop in the tweeters might be adjusting the vocal position for you ears. Hey if it works for you go for it.

Since tweeters are highly directional, you want to be able to look right down them when you are in the sweet spot. thats the best way to position them.
Running the speaker upside down wont hurt the speaker at all.
