    Default Adding Outdoor Speakers to Home Theatre Setup

    I am contemplating adding Polk Atrium 45 Outdoor speakers to my current home theatre setup, which consists of the following:

    Onkyo TX-SR 504- Receiver
    Polk R30-Fronts
    Polk R15-Rears
    Polk Center Channel

    Since the receiver is 7.1 channel, should I just connect the Atriums to the two "surround back" inputs. Furthermore, if I only want to hear the outdoor speakers (and mute the rest), how can I configure the receiver to accomplish this?

    Any advice would be most appreciated. Thank You.

    How about just connecting them to the "B" speaker outs?

    Some receivers allow for independent zone 2 operation utilizing the two surround back channels. Does yours? Should be in the manual.

    Denon DVD-3800
    Pioneer pdp-5070
    Secondary HT with B&W CDM-NTs all around and Rotel Separates (thanks Venom!)

    It doesn't appear to be multi-zone.

    It does appear to have 2 sets of speaker fronts though.
