I was thinking of getting one of these myself. Let us know what you think.

I've bought and returned them a couple times. First tried it between a Denon 3806 and Rotel 981. It was a definite improvement, but I decided to just go with a new amp.

Second time I tried it between my current Denon 2900 and my PS Audio GCC-250. Again, an improvement, but I ultimately went with an external DAC.

Note that the external power supply is essential to reach its full performance (that said, it does double the cost).

I think it is a good fix to make modest gear sound better. However, I think it's a "band aid" of sorts and you are ultimately better off just upgrading the source or amp or whatever.

Just my $.02, of course. There are several posts on this subject.

It does seem a bit counter productive because it is adding more circuitry to the signal path but it probably will add a bit of tube magic.

Yes I will. I had also bought a outboard DAC recently from a member here and am going to try them seperately and together and see what happens. The single biggest thing i see thats missing from my current system is a warmer sound, like tubes.

I have plenty of power amp wise but it is very analytical you might say extremely clear and detailed but no warmth. So im testing the waters basically with a tube go between to see if it improves the sound the way I hope it will, if it does I will probablly go ahead and buy a nice quality tube preamp

THANKS for the oppinions and ideas

Well I was going to work today but I decided to listen to music instead. Pats myself on back for making such a great decision.:p I will work tommorow instead.

My initial impressions are better highs. It cuts down on the digital glare that Joe/ hearingimpaired has mentioned several times, not really rolled off so much, as not as bright The soundtage is more open than without it. Midrange is enhanced, vivid may be a good term to use here. Bass is tighter and more controlled.

With CDs a great improvement. DVDA better but not as noticeable. SACD the same as DVDA an improvement but not as drastic as CDs.

Its not real tubey sounding per se. too warm, just a nice improvement over what it was.

Now I need to get the improved power supply to see what sort of improvement this makes.
