Digital Photo Frames

Anyone own any of these and how do you like them. I looked at the Kodak models today (SV710 -7", EX811 - 8" & EX1011 - 10"). I liked them because they supported a variety of memory sources (CF & SD Cards, Memory Stick with a USB and a few more. I am looking for one for my Mother so she could always have photos aound. Seemed pretty simple to use as well. Thanks.

Bought the wife an el-cheapo off Amazon that was on the "deal of the day". I believe it's a small 6" screen, but the wife loves it. They work great and get the job done, the ones I seen with the best picture are the Kodak ones.

I have a Smartparts 8.4" 800x600 frame. We like it. A couple things to note - the extra resolution is worth it - most of the el cheapo ones are very low resolution. I believe I paid close to $170 for it. And you must put it in a location where you will view it fairly directly, i.e. more than 60 degrees off center and it looks dim like any LCD.

I own a Cheapo still like it, wish it could due a high res thinking mine is 640x480 ok and a bit small 4x6"...

All in all Like it and it hasn't worn off yet, had it since Valentines day. I wonder about the longevity in the long run as it takes some time the warm up now 30 seconds of dim yellowest pictures before white comes back. Its on 8-12 hours a day, for reference.

I bought this one for my wife a couple months ago. It seems to get really good reviews, and I must admit that the quality is quite impressive. You can also buy it with interchangeable bezels.

I have looked at a few (still have not purchased one for my Mom) and am having a hard time finding ones that support USB flash drives. I like the Kodak ones, but the sales guys told me they do not support the USB FD.

Ok, I landed and brand new Kodak Easyshare SV811 at a good price. Could not resist. This is for my Mom and she does NOT have a computer. My thinking was to find one that accepts a USB flash drive and this one does not. Oh well. Is there any other way I can load pictures and music from a computer on to a device (like a USB flash drive) and send her the pics on the device.

The SV811 will accept the following:
- Secure Digital (SD)
- Multimedia Card (MMC)
- MEMORY STICK (MS)
- XD-Picture Card (xD)
- COMPACTFLASH (CF)
- MICRODRIVE (MD)

I own a Digital camera that accepts CF cards but I do not want to ship the cards back and forth. Is there an adapter of some sort that I could plug one end into a USB port on a computer and the other end will accept one of the supported memory cards for the SV811. Just a thought. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the help folks.

Card reader

When they go on sale they're usually around $6 and you could pick up a 1gb sd card for around $12 from the same store on one of their weekly sales.

Of all the support memory cards which would you suggest for storing pictures and audio for the Kodak SV811. Thanks, I know very little about these other than what my digital camera uses.

The SV811 will accept the following:

Is there a difference between Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Pro Duo or are these just large capacity and faster R/W.
Can you tell why you suggest a particular one.

It's really not that important which you pick. Just grab something with enough storage space to suit you and a good price tag.

I personally like CF cards, but SD and MMC cards are good, as well as xD cards, though they're usually a little more espensive, I think.

The Duo MS card is just half the length, and the Pro either designates larger capacity and/or faster speeds...I can't remember.

Basically just find some huge card at a good price. Format's not that important. Though it might be more convenient to get a CF card simply because that's what your camera uses. But then again, maybe that wouldn't make any difference.

As said before, it's not really all that important which format you choose. You'll probably find the best value in an SD card (full size, mini or micro) since they're pretty popular and CF cards are making their way into a lot of cameras too so you can usually get good prices on those. I'd be a bit skeptical buying cards off ebay as a lot of them are fakes, but they're not too expensive anymore (my 2gb 144x sd was about $40 almost a year ago, 1gb 60x sd card was $8 a couple months back). xD is a dying breed and "Memory Sticks" are Sony's exclusive format that are only found in Sony products.

Thanks Guys. I have purchased several Sandisk CF cards on ebay over the past couple of years and never had a problem.
