    Default Dirt - XBOX 360

Anyone else playing this? I love this game, like it better than Forza even, which is saying alot.

It was a bit difficult at first (and still is on higher settings), but it's a lot of fun!

Any tips or tricks IU should be aware of?

no tricks i know of, but the game is very fun. but i do find myself progressing slowly as i keep wanting to out-do my own times on every single course. plus, i haven't played xbox in general for awhile now.

It's funny, I really didn't play mine all that much the first three weeks, but been playing alot more this week.

I use it more as a wireless media bridge than anything else...

I bought it the day after I played the demo. Maybe the game with the best graphics I've seen on the 360 yet. Its close to Gears for graphics anyways.

Yes, I also like it a lot more than Forza. Its a ton of fun.

The menu system is amazing. Can't remember the last time I noticed the style and layout of a menu and was impressed.

Its a shame it has one glaring problem, no true online multiplayer, but they've promised it will be there for DiRT 2. They said they could have added it, but it would not have been up to par with the rest of the game and they didn't want to include it since they weren't happy with it.

    That brings up another question.

XBOX Live is what allows me to play online with other people, right? Is it worth the money, anyone ever use it? Are there other benefits, or just being able to play online (I think I remember something about being able to buy stuff online too)?

Yer paying for the ability to play online, i believe..

you don't have to be a Gold member to buy or download stuff..

to me it's worth the $50 and I don't play online all that much..but when I do, it's so easy to setup..

Live is the best part about Xbox. To me, it would not be worth having a 360 without having Live.

Live allows you to play other people online, communicate online, download demos, movies, pictures. Also, it uploads your best scores and times from pretty much every game you play so you can see how you compare to your friends and the rest of the world on Live.

Really, its the best part about Xbox.

Silver - lets you buy stuff (free)
Gold - lets you play online (~$50 per year), this is the one to get.

I think Dirt is an extremely fun game. I traded in Forza 2 for it and couldn't be happier. I used to love Rallisport Challenge on the original XBox, and this is basically the successor I believe.

Live is fantastic. I don't play online too much, but i'll occasionally play a co-op game with one or two friends. What I like about it, as someone else already mentioned, is that it uploads and tracks your statistics. So in the case of Dirt it shows where you rank for each race.

I used to love when i would have demiurge and shizelbs playing against me on the other team in call of duty 3. i loved even more, sniping them repeatedly from afar....

It looks like everything is bought with points on XBOX Live. Can someone give me some idea of how many points I might expect to use for things like movies, TV shows, and games?

Arcade games are usually $5 or $10. Expansion packs to retail games are around $10. I think movies are $3 to $6.

I never download crap off live as far as entertainment media goes beyond games. It's pointless, IMO.

How's it pointless to download movies from XBOX Live? Does the quality suck or something? It'd be perfect for someone who doesn't want to rent in the store or via mail and doesn't want to deal with downloading to a computer then streaming to Live.

Granted I haven't played with it, so maybe to quality or service sucks, but seems like a nice convenience on the surface. How's it different than PPV?

    Well...

    A) - I have Netflix.

    B) - I have HD Cable with HD DVR.

If you're downloading movies and TV shows from XBox Live, then I would assume you watch a lot of movies and TV shows. That would mean the money would be much better spent on Netflix or Blockbuster.

I downloaded a movie once, just to try it, but that was it. Not to mention, it takes way too long to download. The biggest reason it's pointless, IMO.

you'd make a great candidate. it's not all that bad at all. just not my cup of tea. though i was tempted to purchase an expansion pack for call of duty 3, but never did.

Well, see that I have done. I download arcade games, trailers (movie & game), music videos, games packs, and so on. That's mostly exclusive content, so that makes a lot of sense to me.

The amount of time it takes to download movies, for me also, is the biggest reason I don't do it.

The more I play this game, the more I like it. The graphics continue to really impress me. They can be quite photorealistic at times.

Also, I've noticed something cool about the sounds. If you are driving through a canyon, tunnel, or close to a stone wall the sound changes and gives that very echo-y sound that you get in real life tunnels.

    Very cool. Great game.
