Default The Polk Audio find of the day.

Ran to the local car dealer after work and on the way home drove past a goodwill store. While I had dropped stuff off there before, I had not really stopped to see what they had.

Sitting in the back was a pair of Polk Monitor 10's. The cabinet was in very good condition. (as it turns out - there is a large scratch on the side of one speaker and the bottoms are very scratched up - but the rest of the cabinets are in very good condition)

All the actual speakers looked good and the tweeter is black as opposed to the white of the Sl2000.

I picked them up to give them a nice home. Total cost out the door - $27.00

Not a bad find if I say so myself..... :)

    Nice grab.
I feel your pain. In the last month, I picked up a pair of 10's and S8's at my Goodwill for 28 and 14. It's the luck of the draw I guess. What's ironic, they had a pair of Bose 401's right beside them for 150. Boy, did I have a decision to make.

I'd say for $27 a fine deal for sure. Congrats Michael.

    Here are the pics.....

One of the model sticker (are they 10's or 10b's and what is the difference?)

One of the bottoms - looks much worse than it is and the rest of the
cabinets look great (except for the scratch I mentioned earlier).

One of the tweeter - what is it?

and one of the fronts without the grills... (looks almost new eh?)

Wow what a score. The only speakers I ever see at thrift shops are either plastic or some crappy old Hitachi's or Realistics.

Nice find those are SL2500 tweeters. I have a set just like yours, just a little more expensive:) Put some power to them. I think you will like what you here.

Damn - they cleaned up nice. Even the bottoms look really good. (just 4 or 5 spots on the bottom about the size of a penil lead) You can't even see the scratch on the side anymore. There is a place on one of the speakers where the side meets the top that the venear is scraped off. Not sure how to fix it, but for now, its not bad. - so far I am stoked.... next, hook them up to the cinepro and give them a listen.

Here are a couple of post clean up pics. (the round circles are from my camera lens needing cleaned - not from the speakers)
