    Default qsc amplifiers

Anyone has any thoughts experience with QSC amplifiers. I saw a listing on craigslist for a pair of MX700's and a EX2500 and wanted to know if anything had anything good to say about them.. I am looking at setting up a 2 channel setup probably using the polk rti12's. I looked though the whole forum and no one has discussed them so I am guessing that they are not good/popular..?

Why not use QSC speakers too? PA gear has its place and that place is rarely in our home.

I use one as my sub amp. I have mine in a closet because it's fan is quite noisy.

    Thanks,

i see your points. i am new to this game. I was just asking here to get a quick response. I have been researching it in the mean time i see the built in fans and I am not too impressed by the fans. If no one has anything good to say about it i didnt want to waste a trip to the persons house to see/hear how it sounds.
thanks for your input either way

The QSC PLX and PLX2 amps have the quiet fan...there are some AVSers that swear by them for HT. I was tempted, but went used traditional HT SS.

    any views on audiosource??
looking at a pair of amp threes. in bridged mode will provide 400 watts of power.

I am just looking for some input on some good power amps. that I can find of a craigs list for less. My wife won't let me spend too much money and thats why i am looking at craigs list because I can try out the equipment before I buy it.

Audiosource makes decent stuff. Good stuff for good prices.

QSC makes some really awesome pro audio gear. Used tons of their stuff with EAW, JBL, etc. back in the rave days of the 90's.

Try to get amps that can handle a 4ohm load. Check to see if the speaker connectors only accept pins, or if they have binding posts that accept spades and/or bananas.

Make sure both channels work, and listen for snaps, crackles, pops. Listen for dips in volume or inconsistent volume during demanding parts of your demo music (usually low frequencies). Those are usually signs of an amp on it's way out...

i am by no means a audiophile and i have 2 options a adcom gfa 555 or 2 audiosource amp 3 for about the same price. to power 2 rti12 which would be better.
should i do the single gfa 555 rated at 200 amps stereo or the 2 amp3's rated at 400 bridged??

Quite a few folks in New England are using vintage Altec PA/theatre speakers in their homes... not with PA amps, though! :-)

No Adcom amps, as far as I know uses a cooling fan. Why would you need a cooling fan?

could someone answer this question for me please. i am trying to decide between a gfa555 and 2 gfa565.

if i got one gfa555 and then got another and run them bridged mono would that reduce the sound quality since the thd increases. Isnt the gfa555 run in mono bridged rated at 600rms which would be better than the g565. Or is there some advantage to starting out with pure mono blocks.
money is an issue right now and i can get the 555 and get started and then later worry about the second one.

will be powering some rti12 for mainly 2 channel

In theory, mono blocks would sound better. It's debatable though which is probably why nobody wants to pipe up and start the debate.

Go with what fits your budget. You won't be disappointed.

Less than 1%THD is not audible. (also debatable)
